Welcome

Bulbagarden Archives logo.png
Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Renzo493!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbapedia Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Woah!

Slow down, stranger. You've been uploading lots of .jpgs lately. Since you're new here, i'll lay down the basics: upload .png files, not .jpgs or any other type of file. .pngs are a higher quality format. And images have to be categorized, and you do so by doing this: Category: so-and-so with 2 ['s and 2 ]'s on the corresponding sides. If you have any other questions, just ask one of the admins, such as Maverick Nate, he is in charge of the archives. Thanks! --Hmdwgf 12:43, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

I hate to be annoying, but you really need to listen to me- please upload pics that are in the .png format, not .jpg or any other format. I sent you an e-mail with a legitimate website to convert files, unless you have other ways of doing so. I'm not an admin, so I can't give out warnings, but consider this your first warning. And if you don't listen to me, you can be blocked from the website by an admin. --Hmdwgf 12:50, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Erhem

You have been blocked for uploading files with non-alphanumeric characters... see the top bar? It says "When uploading images, please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) characters only!" The upload pages says "ONLY USE ALPHANUMERIC CHARACTERS, DASH, AND UNDERSCORE IN YOUR FILENAMES." Do you see that? This is causing us problems if you don't, so you're blocked for a week. This also includes ignoring the warnings by Hmdwgf... ht14 13:54, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

I must say Ht14, that was quite harsh for a user who has only been a member for a couple of hours... but whatever. If that wasn't clear enough, don't upload files with names that have any sort of puncuation in it. See you in a week. --Hmdwgf 14:38, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... I guess you're right. I'll change it to what I had for before: 3 days... ht14 14:42, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Renzo, you better be thankful I was able to shorten your block for you. But this is the only time I will do it- and if you keep breaking the rules and uploading files like that next time, the block will be longer, and longer, until eventually, if you keep breaking the rules and ignoring warnings (especially from admins) you'll be blocked permanently from the entire Bulbagarden website. You wouldn't want that, now would you? Keep that in mind. --Hmdwgf 06:46, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Also, please try to make PNGs have transparent backgrounds when needed, and please, no GIFs. They thumb horribly.--immewnitythemew 23:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Zoroark

We already have one. It's here. If you wish to make any modification on the image, just upload a newer version. Thanks, Kevzo8 09:45, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, the image I uploaded is yours; I just updated the image with your uploaded one. Instead of making new file, you just have to upload a newer version of the same file. :) And oh, sign your name with four tildes (Kevzo8 12:34, 11 February 2010 (UTC)). Thanks! Kevzo8 12:34, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Images

  • CATEGORIZE!!!
  • Get your artists straight. Ken Sugimori did not draw some of those.
  • Check for duplicates. Heatran was already uploaded.
  • Name correctly. That Rayquaza should have been named "File:Ranger Rayquaza.png".
  • Where were those Mew and Lugia from? I've never seen them before and believe them to be fanart. Don't upload fanart as official.--immewnitythemew 20:59, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey

Where did you get your recent images of the Mew and Lugia? We'd like to know so that we can categorize them correctly. MaverickNate 14:01, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Recent Edits !!!

Hey Renzo, can you explain your recent uploads? I mean you uploaded a lot of Dawn's pics that weren't actually needed. I mean we already have Dawn's contest images in HD, so we don't need images in SD. Is there any other purpose or can you explain why are you uploading those images (just asking)? Thank you. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 17:26, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh, so that was the purpose (I really didn't know that). I think its cool if you are uploading those to show dawn's different varities that she did with her contest outfits. No, they are not taking much space, I just wanted to know the reason because we should upload images on archives which are needed. Btw I didn't wanted to offend you or your work (that was totally to the point and I asked for the sake of this site. So, please don't think that I was being rude or something like that_. Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 13:12, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Generation V screenshots

Hi there. If you upload the next batch of gen V screenshots please ensure they are categorised in Category:Early Pokémon Black and White images. Thanks. —darklordtrom 11:18, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Regarding your screenshots of Flareon

Where'd you get them from? If they're from Serebii, that's not allowed. We like our own images, and Serebii likes his. Either upload new ones of your own taking or they'll be replaced. ht14 21:11, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 20:19, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Where you have pictures, which are DP180? Pawel10s

Delete tag

When you're using the {{delete}} tag, please also leave a reason as to why it should be deleted. This can be done by adding: {{delete|insert reason here}}. Thank you. JelloTalk 17:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, one more thing, could you also leave in the name of the file it is replaced by? (It's helpful to the admins) JelloTalk 17:51, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

About jpgs

Converting jpgs to pngs isn't preferred...especially if the jpg is of horrible quality. Try to actually find art that isn't reduced in quality because of the jpg. JelloTalk 05:58, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Edit warring

Edit warring is not tolerated here. You have been blocked for 2 days. The policy on Bulbapedia is that everyone who participates in said edit war gets blocked for the number of reverts they made, minus the initial revert. The image Patty uploaded was bigger than the previous versions on both files, I do not understand why you had to edit war with him. Please bring any future issues up with an Administrator instead of participating in an edit war next time. Thanks Jellotalk 04:01, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

I apologize for the misunderstanding, you weren't participating in the edit war. Disregard my previous message. Jellotalk 05:08, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Two questions

  • 1) Where are you getting those high-res art from MD?
  • 2) Speaking of those, they're over the 1k limit.

--immewnitythemew 19:57, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

About your recent edit...

This file wasn't showing up on Bulbapedia at all since it was renamed. Why remove the deletion tag? <:(
