On most browsers, you will see a "Browse..." button, which will bring up your operating system's standard file open dialog. Choosing a file will fill the name of that file into the text field next to the button. You must also check the box affirming that you are not violating any copyrights by uploading the file. Press the "Upload" button to finish the upload. This may take some time if you have a slow internet connection.

Upload formats

Bulbagarden Archives prefers the following formats for images:

  • .png for sprites, screenshots, icons, diagrams, and simple images
  • .jpg for photographs or scans such as cards from the Pokémon TCG
  • .gif format should be avoided. Animated images should be in anipng (.png) format.

The use of the correct file is important as the file extension often interacts with templates on Bulbapedia and Bulbanews.

Please note
  • A log of uploaded images is kept here.
  • If you are uploading over an existing image, you may need permission from a staff member.
  • You should only use alphanumeric characters, dash and underscore in file names. Other characters, especially multibyte characters such as Japanese text, may cause server errors. (e.g. Lt. Surge's ピカチュウ {Pikachu}.jpeg)
  • Personal images are not allowed. Please do not upload them as they will be deleted on sight.
