Welcome

Bulbagarden Archives logo.png
Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, DoTheWave!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
 • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
 • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
 • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
 • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
 • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
 • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the i-Personal template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
 • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
 • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
 • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Hi

Please do not upload files with non-alphanumeric characters in its name. The only characters allowed are A-Z, a-z, and 0-9. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 21:11, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

 • Sorry I uploaded another picture like that before i got the message i'll remember that DoTheWave 21:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 22:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Umm... categorizing means that you add categories... An example is Category:Mantine. ht14 01:05, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Second warning. ht14 21:21, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok, this will be your final warning. You have been here long enough to know the rules. Please categorize and license. ht14 22:38, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Linking

Linking here is not the same as it is on the wiki. You have to use bp in order to make the links reach the actual wiki. Don't put Phantom. You mus put Phantom. in order for the link to actually work. MaverickNate 21:24, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Correction on Maverick's part. It's The Phantom. Also, can you be a bit more consistent? You use p for some of your files, and then decide not to in another. Another example is you using PNG on some and png for others... ht14 22:10, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Also, p is fine. You don't have to write p. ht14 01:05, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Lowercase extensions. pngs, not PNGs. Thank you. ht14 03:02, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Categorising properly

When you categorise files, do not write , as this will transclude the content of the category page onto the filename. To categorise the file in the category, write . Cheers. —darklordtrom 22:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

You don't need the colon. And if Ash's Pikachu is in the article, then you need to put . We categorise everything we can see. —darklordtrom 22:52, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Movie pics

Stop uploading those cropped movie pics. The Pokemon movies were shot in 1.85:1 widescreen, not 1.33:1 fullscreen, like the TV show was before. Since you haven't found any full widescreen images from the Pokémon movies (I've replaced all of them), you are obviously incapable of finding the correct sized pics. But I'll cut you some slack, they are difficult to find. So leave it to people who can find full images. And check your spelling on the articles on Bulbapedia. That's an absolute must. Thanks. --Hmdwgf 05:59, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Is it Photobucket? Then yes, that's ok. But that's not a good pic. It's cropped on the sides and it's bad quality. Remember, only get pics that are widescreen from Pokemon movies. --Hmdwgf 12:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Uhh...

I dunno if I told you, but anime screenshots are supposed to be png, not jpg. ht14 21:07, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Second warning. Also, don't forget to provide a summary. ht14 21:26, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
