Got a spare minute? The Archives need some love. See the to-do list to find a way to help.
If you upload a new image make sure you name and categorize it properly. If in doubt, ask an admin or see our FAQ page.

Anime screenshots

If possible, could you please upload anime screenshots as .pngs, not .jpgs? Chocolate 18:00, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Why do i need to do that? And how do I convert a .jpg file to a .png file? Hmdwgf 18:07, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
1. You need to do it because TTEchidna, the highest authority on Bulbapedia said that anime screenshots need to .pngs.
2. You're not supposed to convert them, you're supposed to take them as .pngs. Chocolate 02:56, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Also, on talk pages, start new sections at the bottom, not the top. Chocolate 03:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
How come you're still uploading .jpgs? Chocolate 23:16, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
They do need to be pngs with lowercase extensions. It would be prefered if you wouldn't upload jpgs at all. Also, try to give the images more concise and correct names. "Capture12" says nothing about what the image is. Maverick Nate 20:30, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Who cares? What person who visits this website is going to look at the website and look at my images and say "well i see the picture, but i still have no idea what it is" after they read the text at the bottom of the image in smaller size on a page on this website? I am not concise about my image names because I don't want anyone to find them and use them for other purposes but me. I may seem like a control freak, but that's who I am. Hmdwgf "01:37, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Because it is policy to name them something that actually has to do with the image. Those long image names are pointless an not helpful to anyone. And also, if you plan to keep them all to yourself and not let them be used anywhere, and only by yourself, they all count as personal images and you can only keep two. Now, which is it? are you going to start following the policy about naming images correctly, or are you wanting to get blocked? Maverick Nate 00:23, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Just because it was a long time ago, doesn't mean you get to forget. Maverick Nate 03:23, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Nate's away atm

I've searched the Archives, including deleted revisions, and I can't find "your" image, and I've deleted the new duplicate you uploaded. In future, if you have a problem, don't blank the page. That's just stupid. — THE TROM — 10:37, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Why? He copied my image, deleted it and then put his own rip-off of my image on the website. You should have deleted his image, not mine. --Hmdwgf 21:22, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but that's the thing. I looked through your deleted contributions, and I didn't see it there. In any case, it doesn't matter who uploaded it, as Bulbapedia and the Archives are community projects. I suspect that this was one of the cases where you gave it a silly filename and Nate reuploaded with something more appropriate. — THE TROM — 22:10, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
After reading your post to Nate, I've given you a cool-down block. That was not acceptable at all. See you in five days, with a clear head. I'm not enforcing a block on the 'pedia just yet but if you bring this over there, I will. Let's keep things civil, alright? — THE TROM — 22:13, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Categories = Important

Please categorise all images you upload, as you upload them. Thanks. —darklordtrom 01:36, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake. --Hmdwgf 20:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Screenshot from where?

Screenshot from which movie?darklordtrom 09:53, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Any better? --Hmdwgf 00:50, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Sources

You must put a source on every image you upload. Taking images from websites without giving credit is considered stealing, and we don't want to get Bulbagarden in trouble. Please put a link back to the site you got it from on each image you upload. Thank you. Maverick Nate 01:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

OK. I'll do that. Now leave me alone. --Hmdwgf 18:42, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Play nice.Try reading CoC because Maverick Nate is just giving you some advice. --Coolピカチュウ! 23:04, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
I know that, I didn't ask for his advice. I know what he was talking about, he didn't need to tell me. I didn't insult him or anything like that. I just told him to leave me alone. --Hmdwgf 06:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
You obviously didn't know, or you already would have been doing it. Maverick Nate 12:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I did know. I only responded like that so you would get off my back permanently. Because you didn't respond to my rather abusive comments much eariler, I thought you were decent enough to respect my wish that you were to leave me alone. I did not shout at you and I did not insult you, and I did not curse at you. I just told you to leave me alone. And if there is a problem with what I am doing, please ignore it and let another administrator tell me what I am doing wrong. I will talk to any administrator of a certain problem except specifically you. You are the last administrator I want to speak to, even if you are a decent person. And now that I have said what I need to say, lets just drop this now pointless and stupid argument already, shall we? I do not like confrontation in any form, synthetic or real. And if you want an apology for what I wrote earlier, then fine. I'm sorry for writing abusive language on your page. --Hmdwgf 06:51, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Duplicates

Please do not re-upload images under a different name, as it makes it confusing. -MasterKenobi 23:28, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Unless, of course, it's a higher quality version of a crappy old jpg. o_0 —darklordtrom 23:49, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, just a bit of confusion on my part. I just saw a little bit ago that it was a png. -MasterKenobi 23:54, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Just checking

you are doing a great job with making names descriptive, and given them good summaries. Just, remember the categories and you'll be golden. ;) MaverickNate 02:26, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I have a real problem with the categorizing thing, I might need your help with that. --Hmdwgf 06:30, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Okay, just tell me what you need to know, and I'll help you the categorizing down. As for the vertical pipe, it's on my keyboard, near the delete key. I have to press shift to get to it, because the \ is the normal key. I don't know where it would be on your's but I'm pretty sure it would be on there. MaverickNate 12:04, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
That's pretty much it, I think I've got it down now. Thanks! --Hmdwgf 22:43, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
In addition, common link templates in the 'pedia like {{p}} and {{an}} should also be used here. Thanks, Kevzo8 09:58, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Candidates for deletion

Use the {{delete}} tag instead of replacing the summary when slating an file for removal. Those files you marked as useless could have been left hanging there if no one read the recent changes list. Also, have you got an approval to change the scenes in the head pic of the episodes? If not, you should take the screenshot from the same scene the lower-resolution one was from. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 12:55, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I can do that, but occasionally, a low-res screenshot sometimes isn't descriptive enough of the episode. Thanks for showing me the delete tag. --Hmdwgf 13:21, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
He has permission to change the screenshots when uploading a png in place of a jpg. MaverickNate 18:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, good to know. I just asked because of I remember there has been these edit wars of changing head pics before (though I think those have been about the newest episodes, but still). UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 19:29, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Just to clarify, input {{delete}} not {{template|delete}}. Also, if possible, please state your reason by inputting {{delete|reason}}. Thanks, Kevzo8 12:24, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I was a little confused there. --Hmdwgf 12:26, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Caaaaaaategories.

'Nuff said. Please don't forget them. —darklordtrom 07:10, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

*poke* —darklordtrom 18:58, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
*cough* —darklordtrom 08:03, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
OK, what did I miss this time... --Hmdwgf 08:16, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
I forget what the poke was for, but I coughed at Category:Ash Ketchum, Category:Ash's Pikachu and Category:Spearow. C'mon, dude, I know you can do this. Basically (seeing as you work in anime) just put a category on for every character you see in the picture, or for every Pokémon you see. Ash's Pikachu is the only caught Pokémon with a special category, btw. Everything else goes in the generic one. —darklordtrom 09:21, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Righto. --Hmdwgf 13:36, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Great work with all these anime pics :) Upload the "better" version before you tag for deletion though. —darklordtrom 21:50, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
I just did. It's not exactly the same image, but it's still pretty good.

Image:Palkia Spacial Rend Release.png --Hmdwgf 21:52, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Cheers. In case you didn't know, you can link directly to a file by putting a colon after the first two square brackets. —darklordtrom 21:55, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
I didn't know that. Really, thanks for telling me. --Hmdwgf 21:57, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Link templates

You can't use link templates of Bulbapedia here. If you type {{bp|an|something}}, you're making a link to a Bulbapedia article called "an", displaying the text "something". Some of the link templates exist in Archives, though, like the an template. Just leave out the bp part (type for example {{an|Latias}}. If a link template does not exist, you can always write {{bp|Article name (thereisnolinktemplateforthiskindofname)|Article name}}.

The list of link templates in Archives can be found here. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 19:16, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Tagging for deletion

One thing. Could you locate a better version before you tag for deletion? If it's being used then I'd rather have the bad image (which doesn't look terrible when scaled down) than no image. —darklordtrom 04:38, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I can see your point. --Hmdwgf 05:15, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
