Uploading image

Hi, I'm trying to upload an image but it's telling me I don't have permission to create a new page. The image I'm trying to upload is a formula to replace the formula currently on a page (I've made the formula a bit clearer). What do I do? Thanks - unsigned comment from Albigatin (talkcontribs)

You have to be autoconfirmed in order to upload images. You can edit pages such as fixing spelling mistakes and adding in missing summaries. In the future, it would be best to ask me on my current talk page instead of the ones I archived. Pattyman (talk) 23:11, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

anipng over 2MB

I am trying to get an animation of the thunderstorm in BW (from Tornadus/Thundurus roaming), but I can't get anything useful into a file under even 3 MB - fully optimized - even at 30 fps due to the high detail. Is it ok to have that large a file size? I know I would have to have you or someone other staff upload it. Jdthebud (talk) 06:19, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

I don't think I'll be able to upload that image (sorry), as I tried uploading other images over 2 MB but they didn't work. You can ask a Senior Administrator or higher if they could do it. Pattyman (talk) 23:50, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Color correction

I uploaded an English version of File:Pokéwalker battling.png, exactly as I found it here (image) (except for trimming it and making it a png). That image had a gray tint, not unlike the Pokewalker's screen. Abcboy is expressing concern about the battle image's colors matching the other image on the Pokewalker page, which likely came from here, where the images do indeed use pure black and white. If you ask me, though, that's a fairly trivial concern (heck, they'll still be in different languages either way...). As something of a purist, I just don't think the image should be essentially altered from how it was found. My problem is, I don't know if the Archives have any rules or anything about this. So I bring the question to staff: is the whitened image OK? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:14, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

To me, it isn't much of a big deal with the gray tints on the Pokéwalker screen images, its not like they're blurry or anything. However, since a majority of the English version ones have the grayish background, it should be kept that way, and the Japanese ones keep the white background. The Archives do have a rule regarding drawing on images, as they should be left the way it is instead of drawing on them. Pattyman (talk) 04:41, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Just an addendum, was trying to keep it consistent not only with that image, but also with images like Category:Pokéwalker route images and File:Pokéwalker Settings.png. But I understand, the images should be kept the same as when they came from the official source. --Abcboy (talk) 22:19, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Friendly reminder

Hey Pattyman, just a friendly reminder that your edit here was unnecessary. There's no space between Summary and Licensing. ht14 03:24, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Odd that the space got there, I only removed the period since the whole summary was just a caption instead of an actual sentence. The spaces must be a typing glitch or something (I used a mobile device). But thanks for the reminder though. Pattyman (talk) 04:19, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome and I'm not saying the episodes are wrong. They're right but I removed it because the moves was used recently in a few episodes. ----JasonL (talk) 16:38, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Lysandre's Mega Ring

The image is much larger than 400×240px, how is it unsatisfactory? Drake Clawfang (talk) 18:53, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

The game images are supposed to follow their game dimensions. In the case with the Mega Ring image, it has to be 400×240px since all of the Generation VI images are like that unless you're making the full maps of the games. Pattyman (talk) 20:39, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Alrighty then, I can size it down and reupload. Thanks. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:41, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
No problem. :) Pattyman (talk) 20:42, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Strictly speaking it's now 427x240, If that's still oversized I can look for different footage. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:43, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
It's a bit oversized. Pattyman (talk) 21:05, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Third time's the charm. :) Drake Clawfang (talk) 21:15, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Topps Category

Would it be okay for me to create a sub-category of Collectible cards for Topps cards? Perhaps called "Topps Pokémon Trading Cards"? And if so, do you think I should also create sub-categories for each of the Topps series? There's generally around a hundred cards in a series. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:07, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

To be honest, I'm not sure if it's necessary to do so. Maybe, an admin that's a higher-rank than me will know since they're experienced with those types of categories. Pattyman (talk) 23:04, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
OK. I figured later it would probably have been better to just put the question on the Collectible cards category's talk page, so I'll do that now and see what anyone else thinks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:21, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

M17 images

Hi, I've seen you've been uploading M17 images. I have some requests. Would you be able to upload images of Allearth Forest, Diamond Domain, Avugnon Town (the town in the beginning, where Ash battles Astrid) and Orseille City (the city later in the movie)? These are pretty much the most needed images right now. Personally I also hope you could upload an image of Clemont's invention in the movie (the ladder Ash uses in the mall). If so, please name it "Clemontic Gear Super Stretch Ladder.png". Thanks in advance, although my apologies if I'm asking too much or if my request is not possible. Blazingfist (talk) 22:39, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Got them. Some of them have the logo on there as it was hard to remove. Pattyman (talk) 23:56, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Location artwork

I'm not entirely familiar with the policies for manga location artwork, but do you think you can also remove the boxes for the Mossdeep Space Center for instance, especially since the background is white anyway? Thanks in advance~! ht14 02:42, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

I only add the {{Location}} template for actual places such as the Mossdeep Space Center and ones with articles on Bulbapedia. As for the image, I was originally going to crop off the boxes but I found the image to look bad that way IMO. While removing the boxes, did you also want me to make the image transparent as the background would be white and I would upload that version in one shot? Pattyman (talk) 03:07, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Hmm... I was initially thinking it should be just simply trimmed since it doesn't get in the way of the image, but it's your call. ht14 03:25, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
I just went ahead and trimmed it without making it transparent. Pattyman (talk) 03:33, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

New Electro Ball Picture

How about this one? season15_ep20_ss4.jpg I know the first one is small and the one I show you here is from Unova but this is what I could find--JasonL (talk) 01:11, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

The one we have now is fine. Pattyman (talk) 01:18, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Okay, then. I was hoping to add a new picture because while traveling through Kalos, Pikachu use a different pose.--JasonL (talk) 01:52, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Correction for BW013 Who's That Pokémon

Original version
Corrected home video version
I'm not autoconfirmed so I can't replace it. Technickal (talk) 13:58, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Fixed. The other one can be uploaded as an error image. Pattyman (talk) 15:49, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Er

I see I don't have the ability to upload images that I want to use at the Pokémon Rumble Blast article. How can I get this? I have saved an image I posted myself elsewhere, from my own game, and wish to include it at the article as it's a picture of one of the buildings in the courtyard. Obviously I've proven I'm a reliable editor over there and am trying to help the article with describing images, but need the image uploading permission here. CycloneGU (talk) 05:25, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Can you post the link here and I could see what I could do about it. Pattyman (talk) 16:43, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
The link to the Miiverse post? That's all I can offer you right now since it would be pointless for me to upload the saved file to another site never to be used again there. The Miiverse post is here, though if preferred, I can try to get a version without another Mii in the picture; that said, you have no idea how difficult that was when getting the Move Tutor (it took me about ten minutes pushing them out of the way over and over).
I can also attempt to get the other buildings, or even just snap pictures without the text.
You can see my dilemma here, though; I wouldn't know where to start to get autoconfirmed over here since the To Do list generally says upload things, and I can't upload things. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 17:52, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
I uploaded them both as png files. The links you gave me were fine. As for being autoconfirmed, you can edit the pages to add/remove words or stuff which is a start. There is also other stuff on the to do list that doesn't involve uploading images that you could do for the time being. Pattyman (talk) 18:20, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! Though my other comment still have a point here: I'm thinking of taking screenshots of the various map areas, and perhaps even stages, for the purposes of the various location articles (see Areas links on the article page and the ones still in my userspace). While I would expect autoconfirmed limits to be larger on the encyclopedia side, and respecting that it's kept secret (you can e-mail me if preferred; worst case scenario I can ZIP screenshots in there), is it really a large number of picture edits needed - like, over a hundred? I'm not as knowledgeable on a lot of the picture content like I am the encyclopedia side, only on what I want to add - and still have no idea where to start since, even from the To-do list, I'm not sure what kind of edits I'd have to make just to meet the requirement (what exactly is that project of move images that need to be fixed?). Not having autoconfirmed here will literally slow me down in what I'm trying to work on as it would be quicker to upload them myself and then immediately use them rather than have them sitting idle for 24 hours. That doesn't even start to account for other things like some template testing I plan to be doing, among other things.
So, basically, I'm going to start going through all of my Miiverse photos for things to add in places, and start snapping things I haven't made good pictures of yet. In just the areas. that's 3*3 + 4*4 + 4*5 + 7*6 = 9+16+20+42 = 87 pictures just for single shots of the various areas alone (I'll be trying to include some two or three star bosses in them) and another 3+4+4+7 = 18 images for the "Balloon Roulette" shots; I figure by the time I put all of those in, that alone would get me past the autoconfirmed status. Of course, that's just a guess. CycloneGU (talk) 22:15, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
The amount of picture edits is technically a secret, but at least you're helping which is most important. Pattyman (talk) 23:24, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I know it's technically a secret. That's why I was trying to guess. LOL
Been posting more on Miiverse, so going to go through my "Yeah!" activity (which is all but a select few LOL) and see what I can grab. I know I posted area pictures for the last three adventures already, and all on the 8 hour reinflation Balloons. Posted some in-stage pictures and a boss fight with Keldeo, too! Maybe I should create a list of everything I want to grab and remove them when I get them added to pages. The only thing I have to figure out is a good way to combine the images (on the right side no less) with the tables of Pokémon on each page. CycloneGU (talk) 00:25, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks for letting me know. Pattyman (talk) 00:49, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Images to Upload

(Now you'll see why I just offered to do it all myself. LOL)

So I checked my Miiverse for useful stuff. I'll first list the Balloon areas (you know, the roulette wheel section).

Next up, a few stages and boss battles (only a few; I'm not blowing Diamonds just to inflate the Balloons):

And miscellaneous pictures that may or may not be useful:

  • Lucario's scared, but other Legendaries have done this as well; might be worth noting that sometimes they try to get away from you due to possible AI glitches (I would not use this for a boss battle image as it seems to be more of a glitch, and I have pictures of other Pokémon doing the same thing)
  • Epic - in other words, shows a Pokémon (Shieldon) with several very high traits, and the massive coins they create (for instance, Gusty+ and Lucky++, which this one has); not sure how to use it, but something to consider and more an encyclopedia discussion than an image one
  • Sparkles; this can also serve as a Sandslash boss battle unless we want it without sparkles

I haven't decided entirely on the treatment of the stage pictures; it would be nice to just get in-stage images of every single stage to either put in their sections - with the table - or otherwise group at the end of the page (an image gallery, if you will); boss battles can be part of that image gallery, and added as someone contributes the images needed, or maybe we want to show them off on Pokémon pages in some cases. I dunno. Of course, stage pictures would be most useful with Pokémon unique to the stage in question; picking randomly from my list, Tricky Factory would be a perfect place to show off a Pichu, which can only appear there. I plan to get more boss battles, myself, with more of a focus on Back and Special areas, but stage images can be any of the three or four versions.

Let me know when any of these are ready, I'll start editing descriptions in them and hopefully I can get that autoconfirmed for the next batch. CycloneGU (talk) 06:39, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Any chance I can add the summaries? Might help me get autoconfirmed quicker. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 18:42, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
I left out some of the stuff on the summaries on purpose so you could add them. Some of the Pokémon were unidentified so I didn't bother with them. The miscellaneous pictures, I'm not too sure where what location it took place. Pattyman (talk) 19:07, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
What do you mean with "Some of the Pokémon were unidentified so I didn't bother with them"? In the description linking to each (above), I identified the Pokémon if it was a boss battle, so unless you're referring to something else, I'm confused. The only one I didn't identify above was Exeggutor. I can try to provide any details for anything missing - or I can suggest filenames - for others that might need it for file naming purposes.
I also don't see Distortion Land, Plasma Tundra, or Legend Terrain yet. Thanks! CycloneGU (talk) 19:13, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
The back middle Pokémon in the Dark Land image and in Distortion Land image were the ones I couldn't tell hence why I called them unidentified. The other Pokémon, I was fine with. Pattyman (talk) 19:23, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Ah, no worries. I was planning to list the Pokémon in the captions at Bulbapedia, anyway (I left you a quick link to Origin Hideaway over there so you can see what I mean), and users seeing that can also then identify where the stages are if anyone should want to go that far. They do circle in-game, though, so the stage location on the screen is pretty much a moot point unless a user knows every boss of every stage. CycloneGU (talk) 19:26, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Legend Terrain has one too with ones I couldn't tell. Pattyman (talk) 19:27, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
