Welcome

Bulbagarden Archives logo.png
Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Pika3323!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
 Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Uploading sprites

==Summary==
{{gamesprite|###|name|all|Black and White|s}}
==Licensing:==
{{i-Fairuse-sprite-game}}

Make sure they're transparent. veekun has all the sprites.

Just another reminder to use the above summary in your sprite uploads. This is your second warning. Jellotalk 20:56, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I guess this could be considered your second warning in terms of where you get your images. The standard for BW sprites are 96 x 96, which is already defaulted on veekun. Second, there is a separate template for back sprites. It's similar to the standard sprites, except for the second row, as shown here:

{{backsprite|###|name|all|V}}

As for the "all" parser, that could mean shiny, all (regular), shiny male, male, shiny female, or female, depending on the sprite. Hope you're still not confused. ht14 22:52, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

For the summaries, if you choose to do it this way:

==Summary==
{{gamesprite|###|name|all|Black and White|s}}
==Licensing:==
{{i-Fairuse-sprite-game}}

then you do not need to pick a licensing tag from the dropdown menu, just paste all that in the box and upload.

Same with ==Summary==, if you have this then you have to type in ==Licensing:== as well. This is to prevent duplicate headings. Thanks. Jellotalk 20:31, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that, then I figured it out, also that 80 X 80, what?! I'll double check next time.--Pika3323 20:33, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
It seems you uploaded the HeartGold and SoulSilver version of the sprite instead of the BW one. (They both look the same) Jellotalk 20:39, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm following veekun here, so yeah...should I stop uploading?--Pika3323 20:41, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Veekun is fine actually (I use that site too), I'm not sure where the mix up occurred. Don't worry about it though, mix ups happen. Keep uploading. :D Jellotalk 20:45, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Last thing, is there a way to upload multiple sprites at once? I've been visiting the Pokémon's page then following the red link.--Pika3323 20:52, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
You could open up all the red links in multiple tabs, that's about it. Jellotalk 21:30, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
