:Hi there. While this is not about Pokémon, it has to do with Classic Artworks. You managed to find all of those old Pokémon arts. What about human characters, like trainers, gym leaders, elite four, side-characters, etc? Don't you have any way to find the ones yet to be found in here and add them to this grand collection? ::There was trainer artwork in one of the books I used but they were already available on here, though I might upload them since they're bigger than the current uploads. Concept art
Hi there!
Just wondering where you found all that excellent concept art, including the map from RG. Thanks for uploading!
Sui (talk) 22:43, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hello! It's from an old handbook released around the same time as Red and Green. I bought it from a Japanese site because I love old artwork and I'll upload more images soon. Only problem is I can't read Japanese so I don't know what's actually written in the book. Link here. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 15:42, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- I like your images too, but one thing: please write the items' names in big capitals like in the games. The title texts you wrote have small capitals. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:50, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- Do you mean like "SUPER ROD" instead of "Super Rod" in the summary section? I haven't seen it written like that on any other media pages but if it's the standard then I'll change them.--Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 17:06, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

- Sorry, maybe my advice was a little off. No, I meant like "Super Rod" instead of "super rod". Not in ALL caps, just the first letters. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:20, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
RGB Pokémon artwork
Could you have a look at this, please? I noticed you uploaded the correct RG artwork. Is the other artwork really from RG as well or is it from RB or early TCG? SatoMew2 (talk) 22:51, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'm honestly not sure about the other artwork. I know it was included in the international releases of RB but I've also wondered when it was first released. I originally thought it came with Japanese Blue but this video shows the older artwork in the manual. Interestingly, this video also shows the older artwork in the Japanese Yellow manual. Looking on eBay there are some Japanese promo cards and trading cards with the RB artwork on released circa 1997-1998 so my guess is that's where they originated from.
- Regarding the link you posted, do you know where to find larger versions of the RG artwork? The images I'm uploading are from a scan and some of the art cuts off where the pages fold. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 19:08, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I don't know of a better source. SatoMew2 (talk) 16:43, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- I may be coming late into this conversation, but I believe these RG arts are the original ones while the RB ones came later. A good example is that the Anime uses the RG arts instead of the RB ones. The TCG may also be a reason for the RB arts, which I prefer much more over the RG ones. - Can I ask you if you're gonna upload all 151 RG Pokémon artworks? If so, when do you think it'll be completed? Since you're almost there, I think... Xrick03 (talk) 13:21, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'm quite busy right now so I'm not uploading them as quickly as I have been. Some are a bit harder to upload because of the scanning issues I mentioned previously but I do plan to upload them all eventually over the next few weeks. I'll let you know when I'm done.--Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 13:29, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- Congratulations for concluding such a great contribution for the whole community, you did it great. Xrick03 (talk) 14:40, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! Actually I'm not quite finished yet. I'm reuploading some of the art which is small or could be better quality. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 13:41, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
- The arts you are currently uploading is the CORRECT RG arts, which is used for the TCG (the pikachu we have is the correct one). The one that we currently labelled as RG, is actually used in JAPAN YELLOW, which is used for the english Red Blue and Yellow. I bring this point up in the forum quite some years back but still nothing is being settled. -Pokeant (talk) 02:40, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry my bad. Japanese yellow also used the ones you are uploading currently. I cannot find any source of japanese using the ones we originally have on the archive. they appears to be first used for RED and BLUE. The TCG originally use the RG artwork, before switching to the RedBlue art. -Pokeant (talk) 02:46, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Category talk:Ken Sugimori Pokémon artwork#RGB artwork. -Pokeant (talk) 05:01, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- I didn't notice there were two Pikachu arts missing. I have them but I couldn't upload (God knows why), so I'll leave this link for you guys to do it in my place. By the way, that Blue Version Blastoise art you uploaded seems to be a fanart (and a pretty darn good one). Where have you found it? Xrick03 (talk) 10:25, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'll be honest, I suspected it might be fan art as well but if it is the artist drew/traced it as accurately as possible. I can't remember exactly where it came from because I deleted the original image but I did edit it to match a definitely official picture I found. If it does turn out to be fan made, it is now indistinguishable from the official art. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 10:45, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, it's released after japanese blue. i got my dates mixed up. but does not seems to be from japanese blue either. japanese blue released in oct 1996. first usage in japanese media that i know of is fossil TCG (June 1997). There is also this mew which we do not know from gen I or gen II. -Pokeant (talk) 14:08, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- That Mew... He looks exactly like the modern one... Whoever uploaded it could have specified from where did get it... By the way, is nobody gonna upload the Pikachu arts I posted on Imgur? For unknown reasons, I seem to have no permission to upload them here... Xrick03 (talk) 14:16, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- The mew is used in nintendo power crystal guide. but we shouldn't trust the english guides. we have 4 companies during the gen II era publishing guides for pokemon. we need reference to japanese media. -Pokeant (talk) 14:34, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Both images of Pikachu are now up. I'll try and find a bigger version of the second one. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 14:57, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

- You really have to tell me where do you manage to find those artworks with so nice quality... Because I'm an Artwork Maniac. Xrick03 (talk) 20:31, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- I just dig deep! Sometimes I search extensively on Google and get lucky. If the art appears on the front cover of a guide there are usually large photos on eBay. If it's really difficult to find, I buy old books online.--Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 20:45, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, thank you SO much for actually buying a Japanese artbook and scanning all of the R/G art. I had actually been working on finding clean scans on and off since 2013. (see my thread http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f226/red-blue-sugimori-art-172497/ ) I noticed though that some of your scans have some darker areas from being in the inner parts of pages (like Ponyta for example), and I was wondering if you would want to make use of some of the big Carddass scans I got off of eBay in case they're of higher quality: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a7rst0cz8wkc6si/AAA64bCD_Z7aEZ9fEa3xVhx6a?dl=0 . Either way, great job. Catstorm (talk) 04:12, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
- I'm really glad you found other high quality images, I'll hopefully use them at some point but it won't be in the near future. I recently uploaded RB artwork and many of the pictures have the same issue of going dark as the page folds in. If you could also find high quality versions of those pictures it would be much appreciated. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 23:42, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
- I wish I knew how to find Red/Blue art apart from art books. I've only seen the low quality tiny ones from the old official website. But I will keep an eye out for them. Catstorm (talk) 04:12, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, just wondering if you know anything about this mew artwork? it seems to be from gen I, but the only usage i know of is the nintendo power crystal guide. not sure about the usage in japan though. -Pokeant (talk) 16:55, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't know. My best guess is in a Japanese art book or encyclopedia released during Gold/Silver/Crystal. If you want to search I recommend looking on eBay and a site called fromjapan where you can preview some books on sale. If you use fromjapan you'll need to translate the phrase into Japanese first. --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 18:03, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
