Pokémon art
Pokémon art only gets deleted if there's already another image that's the same in existence. The gif that you wanted to delete (the Entei one) does not currently have a duplicate. Regardless of what Pokémon art it is, if it's been used as game or anime art, then it's kept. After all, this is an archive. We don't delete the RG Sugimori art of Bulbasaur for instance. ht14 00:54, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Transparent glitch pokémon
DON'T MAKE THE GLITCH POKÉMONS' WHITE PARTS TRANSPARENT!!! You say SnorlaxMonster has asked you to do so, but then, after he reverted one of your changes, he told me that you misunderstood him. When the white parts are transparent, the image won't be realistic when the background is not white. So, just don't. Thanks. TheOriginalOne 17:07, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Cached images
If you uploaded a new version of an image/reverted an image, the cache may take a while to update. Try purging the site cache (click the clock) and your own, and if it still hasn't updated, check back in a day. The edit has gone through, it can just take some time to update. --SnorlaxMonster 08:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Regarding anipngs
The format for these sprites do not really have a "limit" per se. They are not confined to the same size limits the still png images are (look at any of the Regis as an example; I'll revert the bad image templates in time). That being said, they cannot be smaller than the defined size limits. As an example, the animated image can be 81×82, but it cannot be 79×79. ht14 23:56, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
- Someone had edited the gif version with the template; assuming that it should also be on the png, I placed it there. As I was browsing on a mobile device at the time, I could not see whether or not it fit within the typical 80x80 limit. --Abcboy (talk) 01:52, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
By the way
If you don't agree with an image's filename, you should place the {{move}}
template on it instead of uploading it to the newer filename. You're still doing a good job with the jpgs and pngs. Pattyman (talk) 18:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry. I accidentally already clicked "Upload file" when I realized that it was a png, not a jpg. --Abcboy (talk) 18:46, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
A couple of things
With Friend area screenshots, the license {{i-Fairuse-screenshot-game}} is to be used. The category [[Category:Location artwork]] also needs to be added. ㄱ쉰 G50 23:40, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry. Was copying it from one of the original summaries. --Abcboy (talk) 04:35, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Friend Area images
Thanks for uploading the Friend Area images in .png. However, please remember to first replace the image on Bulbapedia before marking a file for deletion. --Carmen★ (Talk | contribs) 03:11, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- Granted, part of this is my fault because I was supposed to check to see if it linked to any pages on Bulbapedia, but yeah, as Carmen stated, it is your responsibility to change the filenames. Thanks~ ht14 03:19, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- With 57 Friend Areas that require 3 tabs each to be open (original file, new file, the page itself) and my computer running at 92% physical memory, I was a bit impatient with marking files for deletion. I am sorry for not changing (about) eight of them, and I really never like updating .pngs over .jpgs. --Abcboy (talk) 04:35, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- It's ok... However, no offense, that's not a really good excuse... doing your best to update the Archives is actually really great! I really appreciate that. Nobody is obligating you to edit the Archives; however, if you are to edit, even if it's a miniscule amount, do so as best as possible. Thanks for your time. ht14 04:37, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Sinnoh maps
Looks like we are both doing Sinnoh maps. Let's try to do different ones, or split DP and Pt so we don't waste time doing the same ones (I did rt 207 right sfter you did). Which ones are you focusing on? Jdthebud (talk) 04:10, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
- On route 207, I forgot to add when I added the 2 trainers that I also cropped out the part of Oreburgh City. Also, I am currently focusing on doing Pt route maps for the routes that don't have them. Jdthebud (talk) 04:20, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hey, just checking to see how you are doing on those Platinum maps. I'm almost done with the DP routes, there are other locations that need DP maps like Victory Road and Stark Mountain, which are very big. Anyway, let me know what's up. Jdthebud (talk) 07:30, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've just been really busy, and haven't had time to get anything done in the way of maps. I can try to get some done over the weekend. --Abcboy (talk) 10:10, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- No worries, feel free to go at your own pace. I am done with DP (barring some random stuff popping up}, so after I get Mt. Mortar and a couple other HGSS maps done (which will take a little while), I'll let you know what I plan on doing in Platinum so we can avoid double booking. Jdthebud (talk) 05:31, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Image requests
Hey abcboy, thanks so much for your help in uploading the Fiery Globe and the other item artworks! Can you also upload the Pokémon artwork that has yet to be uploaded onto the Archives, such as Xatu and Marowak? Thanks in advance! ht14 02:49, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Also, can you upload the higher-quality images of the other items as well? For instance, the Vile Seed and Foe-Hold Orb. Thanks~! ht14 02:51, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
Can you upload a new version of File:Spr Pt Palmer.png?
This file is larger than the .gif image (.gif file= 17 KB .png file= 18 KB). I can't download it (I don't know why), so please upload a new version of this file with smaller filesize (must still be animated). I recommend you use the APNG optimizer: http://sourceforge.net/projects/apng/files/APNG_Optimizer/
That APNG optimizer will lower the filesize of a .png file without lowering it's quality. Thank you! Pokéfan95 (talk) 06:58, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
Do you know a software that makes .png images transparent?
As said in the title. Also, how can I make an image transparent? Thank you! Pokéfan95 (talk) 02:40, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
- I personally use paint.net. Once you've downloaded it, you'll be able to find tutorials online. --Abcboy (talk) 03:09, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Whew
It is amazing how long that takes.
So you had the Battle Trozei set, as well? I could create the template for it similar to the Shuffle one created today (I notice I have the ability to create them here just like at Bulbapedia), but I don't have six hours to do the entire set this evening, so I'd likely do it in chunks tomorrow. Maybe Kanto this evening if they're ready to go. Or I might just upload them as I get to their tables. I am undecided. I know the template changes are just to change "Shuffle001" (where the template loads the number) to be "BattleTrozei001", and to change the game to Pokémon Battle Trozei; otherwise, it's identical, and I literally have it ready to go. Can I go ahead and submit that, or is template creation strictly a staff activity over here? LOL CycloneGU (talk) 03:02, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
- Already on my Dropbox in a ZIP. The filename conventions is File:BT###.png, as File:BT025.png and its friends are already uploaded (and can be uploaded over). I'd go to Kogoro or ht14 and have them approve the template first. --Abcboy (talk) 03:27, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I'll userspace the template on here and they can move it if it's good. Just wanted to make sure the filename convention worked before saving any work. Will utilize that.
- I tried to help on your other template at Bulba, BTW. Check that talk page. (Skype me sometime if you want, too; it's identical to this SN.) CycloneGU (talk) 04:04, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
{{delete}}
on my new redirects
The reason I created those redirects is for those who can't type "é". I have planned also to create more redirects though. I think we should ask Kogoro about this. - unsigned comment from Pokéfan95 (talk • contribs)
JPG to PNG
I actually used software to convert this from JPG format to this in PNG format; I didn't just rename the file extension (unless the software was fooling with me). Is it still showing characteristics of a JPG file? --リックEO (Contact me on BP) 22:15, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
- A JPG file is inherently compressed (think like a very low quality YouTube video) and as such it is practically impossible to remove the artifacts of JPG compression from the image. "Converting" it is pretty much to same as opening it in Paint as saving it as a different file type. --Abcboy (talk) 22:59, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
- So basically, converting doesn't really change anything I see. Why is the PNG format preferred over all other formats? --リックEO (Contact me on BP) 23:13, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
- PNG is preferred over JPG because JPG is lossy (if you open a JPG, edit it and save it as a JPG, and repeat, the quality will steadily get worse unless your program is really smart, in which case it will get worse slowly, but they still suffer from the coefficient division and the 8 by 8 blockiness. JPG also doesn't support transparency. The only thing that should be in JPG format are scans of Trading Cards and some photographs. (because scanners are terrible?)
- PNG is preferred over GIF because GIF has a 256-color limit, which leads to dithering. Additionally, it doesn't support partial transparency.
- (GIFs and JPGs can be saved as PNGs, but still have other qualities of the original file format.)
- If you want to know more, just search up "image file type comparison" and you'll probably find something with more information than I have to offer. To see the difference for yourself, try converting one of the 1280x1280 Ken Sugimori Pokémon artwork and saving it as a GIF and JPG, and compare them side by side. --Abcboy (talk) 23:32, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
