Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, AppelX!

By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements. Please see the upload form and/or manual of style before you upload a new image.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload. There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit.
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are no longer allowed. Any personal images found will be deleted on sight.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Summaries

Please do not forget to add appropriate summaries, rights templates, and categories to the images you upload. Thanks. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:14, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello sir, i am using the same ones as the pictures already there. so i thought that would be good, no? Could u be more specific what is wrong then please?- unsigned comment from AppelX (talkcontribs)

What Finnish was referring to is when uploading new images to avoid needing to do double work, you should also include a summary (a simple 1 liner detailing what the image is, this can be generic), and attributing a proper license to the image. this can either be done by selecting a licence from the dropdown menu when uploading an image or adding it to the summary screen for example with {{i-Fairuse-scan}} added to the summary box. Categories can also be added with [[Category:category name]]. "Collectable cards" and the name of the pokémon on the card being relevant for the images you're uploading. you can see my edit here, this is the information that should be added when uploading new images. (though the summary heading doesn't need to be copied in when using the box when uploading images, as it will be added automatically.) Hope this helps and please reach out if anything is unclear :) 4iamking 13:44, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for the input, is there a way to upload like that in bulk?- unsigned comment from AppelX (talkcontribs)

I would just prepare the text in advance and then copy paste it in with every upload, then you only have to change like 2 variable between uploads. You can just copy the code below and then you only have to change the card number and the depicted pokémon with every upload.
Card 999 from {{bp|Pokémon Advanced Challenge Trading Cards}}. [[Category:Collectible cards]] [[Category:Bulbasaur]] == Licensing == {{i-Fairuse-scan}}
Also on talk pages, its best practice to always sign your comments, this can be done with 4 tildes (~~~~), that lets other people know who placed the comment and when. 4iamking 13:57, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

your email

Heya, Just getting back to your email. To answer your questions: when adding categories, they need to be encased in square brackets as shown in my example above to properly be added, so this is what I did with most of your uploads, and the fair use sourcing template needs to be on a separate line break from the licensing section headline. Although it is displayed displayed as one line on this talk page, if you copy the source code between the <nowiki> tags from my example earlier there shouldn't be any issue.

As for reusing images, id refer you to Bulbapedia's Fair use and copyright statements. In short Bulbapedia doesn't claim ownership of any user uploaded images. Any images you upload are your responsibility and you can reuse as you wish, any other images may be used elsewhere with proper attribution in accordance with Fair use doctrine.

Hope this helps :) 4iamking 12:25, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
