Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Abcboy!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Pokémon art

Pokémon art only gets deleted if there's already another image that's the same in existence. The gif that you wanted to delete (the Entei one) does not currently have a duplicate. Regardless of what Pokémon art it is, if it's been used as game or anime art, then it's kept. After all, this is an archive. We don't delete the RG Sugimori art of Bulbasaur for instance. ht14 00:54, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Transparent glitch pokémon

DON'T MAKE THE GLITCH POKÉMONS' WHITE PARTS TRANSPARENT!!! You say SnorlaxMonster has asked you to do so, but then, after he reverted one of your changes, he told me that you misunderstood him. When the white parts are transparent, the image won't be realistic when the background is not white. So, just don't. Thanks. TheOriginalOne 17:07, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Cached images

If you uploaded a new version of an image/reverted an image, the cache may take a while to update. Try purging the site cache (click the clock) and your own, and if it still hasn't updated, check back in a day. The edit has gone through, it can just take some time to update. --SnorlaxMonster 08:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Regarding anipngs

The format for these sprites do not really have a "limit" per se. They are not confined to the same size limits the still png images are (look at any of the Regis as an example; I'll revert the bad image templates in time). That being said, they cannot be smaller than the defined size limits. As an example, the animated image can be 81×82, but it cannot be 79×79. ht14 23:56, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Someone had edited the gif version with the template; assuming that it should also be on the png, I placed it there. As I was browsing on a mobile device at the time, I could not see whether or not it fit within the typical 80x80 limit. --Abcboy (talk) 01:52, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
