Uploading image
Hi, I'm trying to upload an image but it's telling me I don't have permission to create a new page. The image I'm trying to upload is a formula to replace the formula currently on a page (I've made the formula a bit clearer). What do I do? Thanks - unsigned comment from Albigatin (talk • contribs)
- You have to be autoconfirmed in order to upload images. You can edit pages such as fixing spelling mistakes and adding in missing summaries. In the future, it would be best to ask me on my current talk page instead of the ones I archived. Pattyman (talk) 23:11, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
anipng over 2MB
I am trying to get an animation of the thunderstorm in BW (from Tornadus/Thundurus roaming), but I can't get anything useful into a file under even 3 MB - fully optimized - even at 30 fps due to the high detail. Is it ok to have that large a file size? I know I would have to have you or someone other staff upload it. Jdthebud (talk) 06:19, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think I'll be able to upload that image (sorry), as I tried uploading other images over 2 MB but they didn't work. You can ask a Senior Administrator or higher if they could do it. Pattyman (talk) 23:50, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Color correction
I uploaded an English version of File:Pokéwalker battling.png, exactly as I found it here (image) (except for trimming it and making it a png). That image had a gray tint, not unlike the Pokewalker's screen. Abcboy is expressing concern about the battle image's colors matching the other image on the Pokewalker page, which likely came from here, where the images do indeed use pure black and white. If you ask me, though, that's a fairly trivial concern (heck, they'll still be in different languages either way...). As something of a purist, I just don't think the image should be essentially altered from how it was found. My problem is, I don't know if the Archives have any rules or anything about this. So I bring the question to staff: is the whitened image OK? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:14, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- To me, it isn't much of a big deal with the gray tints on the Pokéwalker screen images, its not like they're blurry or anything. However, since a majority of the English version ones have the grayish background, it should be kept that way, and the Japanese ones keep the white background. The Archives do have a rule regarding drawing on images, as they should be left the way it is instead of drawing on them. Pattyman (talk) 04:41, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- Just an addendum, was trying to keep it consistent not only with that image, but also with images like Category:Pokéwalker route images and File:Pokéwalker Settings.png. But I understand, the images should be kept the same as when they came from the official source. --Abcboy (talk) 22:19, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Friendly reminder
Hey Pattyman, just a friendly reminder that your edit here was unnecessary. There's no space between Summary and Licensing. ht14 03:24, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
- Odd that the space got there, I only removed the period since the whole summary was just a caption instead of an actual sentence. The spaces must be a typing glitch or something (I used a mobile device). But thanks for the reminder though. Pattyman (talk) 04:19, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
You're welcome and I'm not saying the episodes are wrong. They're right but I removed it because the moves was used recently in a few episodes. ----JasonL (talk) 16:38, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Lysandre's Mega Ring
The image is much larger than 400×240px, how is it unsatisfactory? Drake Clawfang (talk) 18:53, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- The game images are supposed to follow their game dimensions. In the case with the Mega Ring image, it has to be 400×240px since all of the Generation VI images are like that unless you're making the full maps of the games. Pattyman (talk) 20:39, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- Alrighty then, I can size it down and reupload. Thanks. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:41, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- No problem. :) Pattyman (talk) 20:42, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- Strictly speaking it's now 427x240, If that's still oversized I can look for different footage. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:43, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Topps Category
Would it be okay for me to create a sub-category of Collectible cards for Topps cards? Perhaps called "Topps Pokémon Trading Cards"? And if so, do you think I should also create sub-categories for each of the Topps series? There's generally around a hundred cards in a series. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:07, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- To be honest, I'm not sure if it's necessary to do so. Maybe, an admin that's a higher-rank than me will know since they're experienced with those types of categories. Pattyman (talk) 23:04, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- OK. I figured later it would probably have been better to just put the question on the Collectible cards category's talk page, so I'll do that now and see what anyone else thinks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:21, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
