*Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
*Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
*Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
*When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
*Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
*Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the i-Personal template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
*In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
*Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Gyarados18!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
 • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
 • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
 • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
 • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
 • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
 • Personal images are limited to two for each User.
 • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.

 • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Hi there

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives. For the next image you upload, don't forget to add it to a category. This can be done by writing in the upload summary box. This image runs over the uploading process, in case you were unsure about anything. Thanks, and have a great time here. —darklordtrom 22:49, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Also, when you upload an anime screenshot, make sure to select the correct license on the upload page. There's a subtle difference between "artwork" and "screenshot". —darklordtrom 00:42, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
One more thing: when you take your screenshots, could you save them as a png? This generally gives a higher quality than a jpeg file. Skipping the red outline would also help. Cheers. —darklordtrom 01:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I must really stress these points again. Please, make sure the next image you upload meets all these criteria. This isn't an image hosting site: we do have standards. This is a formal request that you respect these. —darklordtrom 02:52, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Two months later and you haven't fixed these problems. There's this thing called licensing that you must do for every image. Just pick the most appropriate license from the pull down screen. Also, summaries and categories. This is your last warning, so please start following the rules of uploading images or you will be punished. MaverickNate 21:24, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
