Proposed move to Ash Pichu.png
Hi all! Just wanted to open up a discussion on whether to move Ash Pikachu Pichu.png to Ash Pichu.png. For me, the argument for moving it would be that it is simply the pre-evolved form of a Trainer's Pokémon, which by convention you would just name it as Trainer (Ash) then Pokémon (Pichu).png (Ash Pichu.png). On the other hand, the reason I am slightly reluctant to move it is that Ash's Pikachu is a major character in his own right, and, for me, the current title is an abbreviation for the character Ash's Pikachu as a Pichu (Ash Pikachu Pichu.png).
I'm interested in hearing other thoughts though, and will be quite happy for it to be moved if on the whole everyone feels it should be. Thoughts? --Thespeon196 (talk) 21:58, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm thinking Ash Pichu might be a better image, I doubt he'll ever catch a Pichu himself--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 00:43, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- I proposed the move to standardize the file names. I think the reason why this file is named "Ash Pikachu Pichu" is because, at that time, Pichu was not under Ash's ownership, it was still a wild Pokémon that did not interact with Ash in any way. However, Ash temporarily had a Pichu in JN090, so the file could now be named simply "Ash Pichu" (like "Jessie Wynaut" or "Ash Gastly Dratini"). Shinka (talk) 15:56, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, sounds like File:Ash Pichu.png is preferred! For the reasons:
1) Ash won't ever catch another Pichu, and
2) Pichu was under Ash's ownership at the time the screenshot depicts (like Jessie Wynaut).
In that case, I'll move Ash Pikachu Pichu.png, but leave File:Ash Pikachu Pichu family.png and File:Ash Pikachu Pichu Thunder Shock.png as they are, because Ash had not caught Pikachu at the time the screenshots depict (he was still a wild Pichu). Thank you both for your input!
