The FAQ says pngs are preferred over gifs because they have a smaller file size. This is true, but the page is notably lacking any mention that non-animated png images can often be very poorly compressed by the program that generated them. I think there ought to be some guidelines, particularly with regard to anime screenshots, instructing uploaders on how to use various tools such as OptiPNG and AdvanceCOMP before uploading a file. | |||
