Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Emp!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Hey

Can you upload anime pics in png format please? Thanks. ht14 20:54, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

I know it's PNG for sprites, but I thought it was JPEG for anime. Besides, I got the images as JPEG so converting it seemed like a big no-no. I'll stick to PNG in future though if I should --Emp 21:54, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
See the anime pages, such as EP001 and Ash's Pikachu. The files are all in png format. ht14 21:58, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Transparency help

This would suffice I guess... make sure to remove the template after uploaing a transparent version though. Thanks! ht14 22:02, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Okay ht14, I've finished up to Arbok but since noticed the origional Bulbasaur image hasn't even changed yet. Do you know why it does this? I haven't uploaded any of the others yet, I think it makes more sense to do them all in one go (or in 50's). [[Emp]] 22:50, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Ctrl+F5 in most browsers, or clear cache. Just your computer using the old image.--immewnitythemew 00:15, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Anime pics

Nice that you're helping with the anime pics, but... I have to admit it, they are rather low quality and upscaled for no apparent reason. What is your source for the images? If it's YouTube in fullscreen mode, do not take any pics there. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 22:46, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

And it also does not help when you replace a cropped pic with a stretched pic with a logo on it. Please don't upload pics with logos on them. --Hmdwgf 04:58, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

if you can find better images, don't hesitate to upload them. --Emp 23:20, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
You don't have to tell me that. I have been here way longer than you have and I don't mean to brag, but I have uploaded hundreds of some of the highest quality pictures on this website. Oh- and one more thing- don't patronize me. Thanks. --Hmdwgf 16:59, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry but I don't really care how long you've been here or how many contributions you've made, but I'll refrain from uploading stretched images from here on out. If there are multiple of pages with low-quality pictures, or no pictures at all, I figure it's better to upload what I've got regardless. I didn't realize some bad photos (those in question from the original series, which I admittedly had to stream as apposed to my Higher Quality Episodes) had slipped through the cracks, and I'll be more careful in future. Sorry about that, and about the patronizing impression I gave off --Emp, out 18:01, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Good. Let that be your mentality when uploading pics here.
No, really, it isn't. If it's bad quality or modified in any way, don't upload it at all.
There are countless pages that have low quality or small pics. Just roam around the website and see what you can do. And I'm trying to round up a few users who will help me get pics for anime-exclusive location pages that are missing or have low quality pics. If you're interested, just say so. --Hmdwgf 18:36, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Okie. I'm just going to intervene before I (or anyone else) needs to. Hmdwgf, please chillax, I do realize that you see yourself as being correct and what not, and you are. But please do so gently. Let's not scare anyone off by jumping down their throat, k? And Emp, thanks for all the help that you give on the Archives (I regularly look around and such as I should) but please heed the advice of the experienced members, in fact if you ever have any problems you can come to me, and I'll try to help you in a timely matter. So, if we are all happy, see ya'll~! AiedailEclipsed 00:50, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
