Yellow sprites

When uploading the Yellow sprites, please make sure to use Template:Spr 1y on thier descriptions. Chocolate 22:27, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh... I guess I should. But we have to alert an admin; it links them to Category:Pokémon Red and Blue sprites, not Category:Pokémon Yellow sprites. UltimateSephiroth 22:29, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I'll tell Maverick Nate. But, when using the template, you can just upload the image with the description as {{Spr 1y|(Pokémon)|Pokémon's National Dex number}}. You don't need to select a license when uploading if you use the template. Chocolate 22:32, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I found it out already, as you can see in the newest ones. :P UltimateSephiroth 22:32, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
All right. Good job on ripping the sprites BTW. They're awesome quality! Chocolate 22:34, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks :D It took a little time, but sure was worth it. It's about time we get rid of those old, wrong-sized, wrong direction facing gif images. UltimateSephiroth 22:38, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Gen IV size

Just wondering, what is the standard size for Gen IV spites? I want to say 80x80, but I'm not 100% sure. Jpp8 04:36, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip

My Photoshop is out of order, so it's hard for me to judge image sizes using MS Paint. I'll be far more precise once I get that back. Also, can I assume that when you said to upload sprites as transparent, you meant the backgrounds (as opposed to white)? -Stephen93 16:42, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

You can see the image size via the Attributes (or similar; I don't have an English MS Paint), which is located under the Image menu. However, do not use MS Paint. It cannot make the image background transparent (yes, I meant the background, not the whole sprite :P). If you only can, download for example GIMP. It may be a little hard at first but it can do a lot of things. UltimateSephiroth 18:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I definitely wasn't going to upload anything done with Paint after what you told me, but now Photoshop is up and running again, and I'd like to take a load off of everyone's shoulders and help with the Spritedex- I'm just stuck on one thing: I have two shiny Gligar backsprites, one with all the white pixels transparified, including the ones on Gligar's body, and one with only the outer white pixels transparified- which one meets qualifications for uploading?
Sorry for bothering you so much, I just want to make myself useful around here :D. Thanks alot! -Stephen93 19:51, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
EDIT: Just noticed you want all your messages on Bulbapedia talkpage, so I'll move it there after if you would like.
The one with only the white pixels not part of Gligar is correct. If somebody would use the picture in BP on a red template, we don't want its back to turn partially into red. And don't worry, if somebody starts the conversation here, it's okay to me, that notice is just there so the people would start the conversation there. If it is started here, then it'll stay here. UltimateSephiroth 20:30, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Minor edits

Over on Bulbapedia, you mark almost all of your edits as minor, but here, you mark hardly any of them as minor. How come? Chocolate 20:46, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

It's basically because of I haven't fixed my preferences here in Archives yet. I have in BP the setting that an edit is minor by default on, and therefore I seldom remember to look if the box actually has the check on it ('cause most of my edits really are minor). UltimateSephiroth 20:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Dude...

You're doing awesome with the sprites! Chocolate 16:17, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! :D I'm just thinking what I should do next... Maybe I'll have a little break from the sprite job and resume my Pokémon Card GB 2 playing rumba (I think somebody told that he'd do the RB sprites, and I have the feeling that Jpp8 will do at least the resizing of Silver sprites). UltimateSephiroth 16:21, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Do you know a Pokémon website with great quality image which is NOT .jpg, .gif ect.. I'm just wonderin' where to find some images. BTW are the Platinum sprites suppose to be animated?--Force Fire 15:12, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

If you mean by "images" the anime screenshots, at least I take them directly from the episodes (with clear 640x480 resolution) I've downloaded via a torrent. And yes, I think both DP and Pt sprites should be animated like Image:Spr 4p 001.png is - TTEchidna has though said that ###.png ones should not be animated. UltimateSephiroth 15:16, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

So

Are you able to get anime screenshots as pngs? If so, I have a little task that I would appreciate if you could help with. If you can only replace one, that would be great, but if you want to do more, that be fantastic! Want to know about it? Maverick Nate 15:19, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, tell about it, I'm glad to help :) (though my HD is not large enough to have all 11 seasons at once so I have to DL episodes again if I want to get any image material out of them, but that's no problem :P ; currently I have certain Indigo League episodes and the whole Johto League Champions season) UltimateSephiroth 15:25, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, you can do what I did. I burned the episodes onto dvds and stored them away into a cd case. I have the first six seasons and the Chronicles... but I don't know how to take pngs of episodes. I'd like to learn but not at the moment now. But, take a look at the List of anime episodes. Notice anything? None of the head images are pngs. (except for a few). I was hoping you could get new ones (preferably of the same screenshot, but that is not necessary) beause most are gifs and horrible quality. I wanted to make it so that each head image had the epicode for a name and lowercase png as the extension. Do you think you could help? Maverick Nate 15:34, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I can help with them :P I put the first episodes again to be downloaded, so I think I'll manage to get at least some of them done today (goin' sleep somewhere about 02-03:00 UTC, so I have a lot of time :P) UltimateSephiroth 15:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Could you also follow a similar format like how Image:EP025.png was uploaded? With a little description ending with "in ''{{bp|EP025|Primeape Goes Bananas}}''" (or something similar for whatever episode you are doing) then the head image tag, anime screenshot tag, then any appropriate categories. I know that seems like a lot, but it really makes the image the best possible with all the descriptions and needed categories. Maverick Nate 15:50, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll try to follow that format as well as I can. UltimateSephiroth 15:59, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I've now taken the shots from EP158 to EP164, but I can't find the scene depicted in the image "Image:HassleintheCastle.jpg" from anywhere in that episode, so I think I'll take the screenshot from a similar scene. UltimateSephiroth 16:26, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

It was reverted to the right revision... The wiki showed the wrong image cause you didn't clear the cached version... - Kogoro | Talk to me - 21:46, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

BP logo in your custom theme

Yes, you can, when you input some codes in your monobook.css:

#p-logo a { background: url(the customized bp logo hosted by imageshack or photobucket or something.png/jpg url) 100% 50% no-repeat !important; }
#p-logo a:hover { background: url(the customized bp logo hosted by imageshack or photobucket or something.png/jpg url) 100% 50% no-repeat !important; }

Best examples are PR's or Trom's custom theme. :) Kevzo8 01:57, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I know it works like that but the point of the question was if the copyrights of the logo allow edits - guess so, if others use them. I, however, would prefer to have the image on the archives, but I guess it's no problem if I put it on ImageShack for now. UltimateSephiroth 09:48, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
For the record, mine is a somewhat edited version of Sol's, actually. This one is quite impressive though xD I don't see why there would be a problem with this, as long as it is only for use on the Bulbagarden network. Don't take it to Wikia or anything xD — THE TROM — 10:39, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Gen. II sprite sizes

It seemed to me that the 60x60 thing was some kind of unwritten rule (judging by Kogoro's comment on the Manual of Style edit), so I just went ahead and started re-resizing. You do have some great evidence, so I guess you should go to the administrators with it. I probably did act a little too quickly, so I'm going to stop editing and wait for further developments right now. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know when you find out more. -- Socob ( Talk | Contribs ) 14:22, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Sprites

You're using the default settings on the , it needs to be VGA.--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity 11:35, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

I don't know how to change that on mine. It has three options (24bit True, 15bit Color, 8bit Monochrome), only the first works, others show only black screens. UltimateSephiroth 11:55, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Guess What?

I trust you. You know what that means? You get to start moving pages, deleting things, protecting things, and blocking people. How great is that? =p Congratulations! Use it wisely. Keep up the good work, and help with any specific tasks we need you for. Some rules for being an administrator: 1) when moving things like anime images, delink and delete the redirect, 2) When deleting the images, make sure they aren't used on the news, or any of the mainspaces of the wiki. This is very important, don't forget.
First thing I need you to help with, cleaning out the Images by episode categories. (Category:EP001 screenshots and so on) The image names are ugly, so they need to be moved. Many of them aren't necessarily needed, so feel free to delete them. However, try to find a place for them before deletion. If you can't find a place for them, but you think they are worthy of keeping, move them to a good filename, and put {{unused}} in the summary section. Also, make sure they have all appropriate categories and the needed license. Now, don't make me regret my decision ;) MaverickNate 16:02, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Wow, thank you a lot! Don't worry, I will try to help as much as I can with the EP images and everything else, I just have to make sure I don't spend too much time here instead of concentrating on school :D UltimateSephiroth 16:14, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
A couple of questions: 1) What does this rollback thing do? I didn't try it in case it would do something not undoable. 2) Bazza has currently four personal images. What was the template to inform about excess sprite deletion in BP (if I may use it)? 3) Does the "Imported from Bulbapedia" template essentially only mean that the categorization/description should be checked, after that the template should be taken off? UltimateSephiroth 17:19, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
1)Rollback is similar to undo. If, say a user makes 5 edits to a page in a row, you can undo all five edits at once by rollbacking. You also don't have to save the page, it will automatically undo all the edits. and 2) Template:Toomanypersonal. Instructions are on the talk page. Also, once you are all done and the images are deleted, you need to remove the coding from the pages. 3)We want to get rid of the imported from Bulbapedia template. It is just an outdated thing that no longer has any meaning. The pages with it are just coincidently non standard. Images with the template do need checked, but checking images is not restricted to just images with the template. MaverickNate 17:35, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks :p UltimateSephiroth 17:38, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
You aren't too slow, don't worry about it. Don't forget about {{Unused}} MaverickNate 17:49, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah :p I'll try to remember to use it too. As for the Poké Balls category, I tried it in singular form, the plural form didn't even come to my mind (though now that I think about it, it is quite self-explanatory). UltimateSephiroth 17:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Artifacting

I fixed those 2 pictures that had lots of artifacting, so the new versions should pop up anytime now.--Hmdwgf 06:28, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Okay, thanks :p I deleted the old jpg duplicates now. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 07:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

New pics

Are you an administrator here? --Hmdwgf 01:59, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

He is. ht14 03:46, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Name them with just the Move name please. MaverickNate 17:38, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay. :p I made them to have a hidden frame which shows only when anipng is not supported, so I'll also get rid of the old stationary DPPtHGSS pics. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:44, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, cool. If you could do that for as many as possible, I'd appreciate it. Here's the style i would like to implement. All current move images get File:Move name.png (or jpg if necessary). And all past ones get the Generation number after the move name. That way, we can incorporate it into the template like the anime episodes are, and we would like to eventually display all generation moves on the pages somehow, but that is far down the road. Do what you can. MaverickNate 17:52, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay. I just discovered, after moving the Power Whip animation, that the old DPPt version (which was not deleted yet) has a different background - should its new name be File:Power Whip DPPt.png then? UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:55, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean by different background? MaverickNate 18:02, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, the old one gets moved to that name. these animated ones are HGSS, right? MaverickNate 18:04, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Compare File:DPPower_whip.PNG and File:Power Whip HGSS.png. And as far as I know, this is not the only move with a different background in HGSS (I think every move here with an asterisk has changed between Pt and HGSS. Ninja'd: yes, these new animated ones are from HGSS. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:07, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry.

I was unaware to change the file name, as Nate just said (or at least I think he only said..) to change the template and categorize by Pokemon or I would have moved them myself. Now, in reparation to this mistake I am willing to do the moving myself. AiedailEclipsed 00:29, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

The PiPiPi name is cool for now, because we don't have a standard for naming manga yet. I don't like it when we move images hundreds of times, so I have AiedailEclipsed taking care of the more important things: the names of templates and organizational procedures. The names will happen in due time. MaverickNate 01:24, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I thought myself that we'll move all images out from the old names as well, but seems that's not that big a priority after all. Do as you wish, I'm not forcing you to do anything :p UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 07:52, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Image

I have two images for the anime section of helping hand, but they are jpg, can i upload them, or not? Littlmiget123 03:27, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Seems there aren't any images there, so a bad image is most of the time better than no image at all.
Actually, what method do you use to capture the images? I suppose you are watching the episodes from some kind of video files, printscreening the image to an image editor, cropping and saving. If the editor you're using is MS Paint, then I think you should know that you can choose to save as png instead on the dropbox in the Save As... dialog. MS Paint in Vista wants to save as jpg by default, but it can easily be bypassed.
In fact, if you're using an editor without the capability to save as png, your editor sucks. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 12:16, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I take the image from the internet, save it to my computer, then add upload it. And jpg is the only choice I get to save it by. Anyway, im not a computer know-it-all, so I don't know any other way of doing it, but I want to help Bulbapedia with any empty articles missing data. The images aren't as bad as my other ones, they have good quality (i think) and there is no logo. Anyways, I'll put them on, I just figured I'd ask you so I wouldnt get in trouble again. Littlmiget123 15:25, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Female Hunter (Colosseum)

Hello. I'm Endres from the German PokéWiki and I need the female Hunter Sprite from Colosseum. Do you know where to get it or are you able to upload it? Thank you very much, --Endres (18:46, 23 November 2009 (UTC))

I've seen, that the male Chaser is not like he is in Pokémon Colosseum. The Colosseum Chaser got red hair, yellow neck scarf and purple shirt... I would really appreciated, if you could just give me the Source :-) --Endres 13:17, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I can upload the female Hunter if I come across one in Col. The thing is, I have currently so much to do that I hardly ever have time to fire up the Col ROM. As for the male Hunter, there may be other color schemes than just the one I uploaded (see e.g. Bodybuilder), if your point was that my image was not correct. :p UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 14:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, but I think there is no Picture with white background in Colosseum, so you have to hack the ROM to get the pictures from Battle-Mode. I could do this also, but I don't have any Software to hack sprites from GC-Games... --Endres 15:43, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

HGSS screens

Could you get 1/2 screens with yellow and red health? I need it for a template. If you find it, you get a cookie!--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity 14:13, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Um... I'm not entirely sure what you were looking, but if I understood it right, you should be able to extract what you need from this pic:
anoooo.png
(I included both yellow and red bars for both battle and PKMN menu, since they are a bit different) UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 15:24, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
YESS!! Thanks! Here's that cookie!--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity 15:56, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

May I direct your attention to...

...this? That is Gen III, but in 80 x 80 format... care to explain? Maybe all trainer back sprites are 80 x 80, or something of the sort... ht14 15:08, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

That file is in 80x80, but that's wrong. All trainer and Pokémon sprites are 64x64 (with trainer sprites' ball throwing animation glued all together in the same sprite) when examining a ROM with an image extractor. For some reason, unlike 99.9% of the other sprites, the trainer back sprites in FRLG are saved in the ROM uncompressed, so my tool cannot find them, but here's an example from RS:

fmm7nm.png

Usually, if I'm about to question a de facto standard, I'm not going to do it without a reason or proof. :p UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:59, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. Do you think you can fix up those uploads then? ht14 21:56, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I'll fix them tomorrow, I'm just about to finish up on the computer for today, so can't really do it now. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 22:03, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Menu Colo sprites

Can you get the shiny menusprites also? Thanks. ht14 04:48, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Currently I don't have the information I need to do that, unfortunately. I haven't yet found a GameShark code for making a Pokémon shiny, I don't know a way I could transfer one from a GBA ROM, finding one in-game is too unlikely to happen, and I can't fully open the raw files (getting pretty close, though). I'll work on them once I figure out a way to do it. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:18, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok, good, good. The question now is... how are we going to use these menu sprites... hmm... ht14 23:38, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
I think they were at least going to be displayed in the sprite templates (side games one, specifically, though Col and XD are not side games). And I think I finally found a code for making a Pokémon shiny in Colosseum. That one is, though, for the NTSC version which I'm currently downloading, not for the PAL version I've been using, so I can't say yet whether it works or not. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Hey, if it's all right with you, can you upload the rest of the regular menusprites? Thanks. ht14 23:06, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
The ripping process is tedious, but sure, I try to get back into doing them. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:35, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! ht14 20:38, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Pic re-name

There's a pic that needs to be re-named. It's this one. It used Dragon Rage in this pic and the user labelled it as it using Twister. There was a mishap at Bulbapedia involving this pic. --Hmdwgf 11:03, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Links?

Hi, can you tell me how to put up File links to images please? Littlmiget123 23:17, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind, I think I found out how. Littlmiget123 23:42, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Lol, me again. I have a couple questions that aren't really important, so I added them to this section. Can you tell me the rules, or send me to a page with a guide about personal images? Also, I would like to delete one of my personal images, can you do it for me, or tell me how? Thanks! Littlmiget123 17:28, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Sephy has had connection problems recently (IIRC). I'm happy to help you in his absence.
You are allowed two personal images only. If you would like to have your personal images deleted (or any images deleted, for that matter), just put {{delete}} anywhere on the image page (i.e. click "edit" just like you would on Bulbapedia). If you want advice regarding uploading, then this guide should help you out. —darklordtrom 06:50, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
