Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, CuteSylveon42!
Bulbagarden Archives bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements. Please see the upload form and/or manual of style before you upload a new image.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload. There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit.
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are no longer allowed. Any personal images found will be deleted on sight.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Image Titles

When uploading new images for the archives, please ensure you title the image to match instead of a random screenshot name.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 20:37, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Image Title Letters

When uploading a new image, can you make sure the title is written better, for example Veilstone City Pokémon Center.png instead of Veilstone city pokemon center.png--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 09:26, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Anime images

When uploading images from the Pokemon anime, png is preferred over jpg--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 10:49, 24 February 2023 (UTC) For episodes aired after DP120, a 1280x720 size is preferred, 640x480 for episodes before that.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 16:32, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

Can I suggest waiting for a good quality video to be available before uploading images from newly aired episodes, also please remember to add summaries and categories and the correct licensing.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 10:45, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
Polite reminder, we prefer png images over jpeg images, if possible convert them.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 20:34, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
We also prefer images with no watermarks. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 13:19, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
I know, I'll get a better screenshot without the watermark, if no one has done it yet, I'm not from Europe so I can't see the episodes on youtube (CuteSylveon42 (talk) 15:17, 21 April 2023 (UTC))
I'm from the UK, Finnish is from Finland so we're both from Europe as well and we prefer to wait for good quality videos to become available.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 15:36, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Move images

When uploading move images such as Sprigatito Leafage.png, we wait until the episode airs before uploading it, also if the Pokemon belongs to a named trainer like we know Sprigatito is, we put the trainer's name at the start of the title, so instead of Sprigatito Leafage.png, it is Liko Sprigatito Leafage.png--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 22:25, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

Personal images

I've noticed some of your more recent images are for one of your userpages that you've made for fun, we try and not have images like that, preferring images to go on mainspace articles.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 08:08, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Roy without jacket

Why did you upload a new image of Roy without jacket, only as Roy without jacket .png?--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 07:13, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Helpful advice

1) Most individual Pokémon don't have their own categories. Ash's Pikachu is an exception. As such, make sure your categories are titled with just the Pokémon species's name.
2) Categories go to the bottom of the page, instead of the summary section. Summary sections are for describing what the image is about.
3) Please be sure to add descriptions to the images you upload, either before or after the upload, and to use the appropriate rights template for the occasion.
4) Please keep talk page conversations on their page of origin. They're easier to follow and understand that way.

Manga

When it comes to manga related uploads, please wait until a decision has been made regarding how we're going to name files. It is really frustrating to come online and find over a dozen of files that need renaming. Ataro (talk) 19:59, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

Fan Art, AI Upscales

Please do not upload AI upscaled artwork (Rika) or place fan-art/staff-art in the same category as official artwork, (Go, Koharu, etc.)Lewtwo (talk) 15:27, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Chloe in her sinnoh outfit is from the official poster and the Goh one is from Shūhei Yasuda (A character Designer), I just noticed no one uploaded the artwork. Goh has other artwork from Shūhei Yasuda on his page, so I thought I could put it up. (Again I don't know how to use AI to make images). For Rika, I just took out the white background and outline and so that's why that line looks ugly. Does this clear things up? --CuteSylveon42 (talk) 18:43, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

When you uploaded the Scarlet and Violet character artwork originally, you noted that it was "Scanned from Japanese pre-order artbook of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet". An hour later you reuploaded the same images, but at much higher resolution and the edit summary "more cleaner". Can you explain what process you used to make the images larger and cleaner? --SnorlaxMonster 08:37, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

The first images were from tumblr with the paper like texture, and I got the digital version from this person, (https://twitter.com/PokeliYT/status/1605054021387132929), is it fine if I can reupload them now or no?

Map images

Good work uploading Crown Tundra map images. However, I think you may have uploaded the wrong image for the Slippery Slope map image, as it highlights a wrong area on the map. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 07:56, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Anime Screenshot Quality

Could you please stop reducing the quality of images for no reason? https://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:HZ_eyecatch_12.png

Other screenshots from the show being a lower resolution than the official YouTube upload does not mean they all need to be low quality downscales. Please revert this, as I've already received a warning for edit warring.- unsigned comment from Lewtwo (talkcontribs)

Edit warring

Hi. I wanted to let you know here that reverting an image several times is called edit warring. Since you had already uploaded and reverted the page once, your recent reversion wasn't really appropriate. If there's a conflict about a page/image, it should be resolved by discussion, like on the image's talk page or a user talk page. Edit warring is a blockable offense, but as this is your first warning, we'll leave it at that.

FYI, I previously warned lewtwo after their last reversion and then left the image as is because we decided source quality screenshots are fine (the 720p guideline is outdated).

New images

Just letting you know for future reference, images don't have to be 1280x720 any more, we can have them 1920x1080--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 13:47, 7 August 2023 (UTC)

Terapagos Pokémon Anime Artwork

Rather than upload the existing image under a new name and request the old image to be deleted, put in a move request, admin are often online and there to help.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 15:11, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

Deletion requests

If you upload an image with the wrong name, maybe instead of requesting it be deleted and upload the same image with a new name you could ask for it to be moved to the correct name.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 10:12, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

I’ll be careful about the names next time, thanks CuteSylveon42 (talk) 10:29, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

Eyecatch category

Hi, just a small reminder to add Category:Eyecatch to the appropriate screenshots when uploading. → PikaTepig999 09:14, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

No need to rush

I see you uploaded an image of Katy's Tera Orb, even though she hasn't appeared in the anime yet. No need to rush, just wait until she debuts in the anime. Bulbapedia is not a contest in who gets to edit something first. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:40, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

For future reference, anime-original characters do not require "anime" in their image titles. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:05, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Excluding artwork images, of course, my bad. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:32, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Cortondo anime.png

I see you've reverted Finnish's image of Cortondo anime.png, personally your image shows the town looking in whilst Finnish's shot shows inside the town.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 01:08, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

In addition, your choice is so distant that it's hard to make up any details of the town. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 01:19, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

Artwork sources

Hi, thank you for uploading Horizons artwork of Briar and Perrin.

When you upload artwork in future it would be helpful if could you add a link to its source, or at least the specific website or channel it is from. It makes it easier to verify that it comes from official sources that way.

Thanks --Thespeon196 (talk) 17:29, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Wrong titles

For future reference, if you upload an image with the wrong title, instead of uploading the same image with the correct title, put in a move request and an admin will change it.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 10:30, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

Large images

Hi. I notice you have recently uploaded images with dimensions larger than 1920 pixels, and want to remind you of our Policy not to upload images any larger than 1920x1920 (see the Manual of style and Help:Uploading images). Please refrain from uploading such large images in future without partnering with a staff member. You can of course scale images down to 1920 pixels before you upload, and they should still be plenty big enough for our purposes on the site. Thank you Thespeon196 (talk) 16:03, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
