Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Goldenpoke111!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

For the template, be careful what you're doing. See the bottom of each sprite. If it says duplicate, then it's a duplicate, but if not, then it's not... ht14 04:09, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the warning! I'm not quite sure what you are talking about, but if I ever see something saying that the sprite is a duplicate (it will be in the code, right?) I'll skip over it. I'm just going through the sprite categories (currently Platinum, but I'll get to the rest eventually) and putting the templates on the sprites that aren't on the list. Will I encounter anything in the official file name format (e.g. File:Spr_4d_100.png) that is a duplicate? Goldenpoke111 01:19, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't quite follow. Actually, you only made one error and I jumped to conclusions, that's all. Don't worry about it. Actually, this might help you out. ht14 02:45, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for being confusing! Thanks for the list, but it is going to be a bit difficult for me to keep referring back to it - I go through the pictures by going to some Platinum sprite and just changing the number in the address bar. I judge if I need both templates (no DP-Pt change) or two different pages with one template each (Pt sprite has changed) by whether I have been redirected to the, and that error was probably caused by me not noticing the lack of a redirect. I'll fix anything like that once I get done with categorizing the Platinum sprites (a quick Find for "4p" in the Diamond and Pearl sprite list, but if I made some other mistake, feel free to correct me Goldenpoke111 05:14, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Once again, I must remind you, do not forget about HGSS. Thanks. This isn't just one this time. It's all the sprites you recently handled. ht14 01:42, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I do know about that. I was planning to go back and add the HGSS templates after I finished going through the DPPt sprites. I feel as though I might skip over a few HGSS sprites if I do them now. Thanks for making sure that I remembered about them, though! Goldenpoke111 03:49, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I know your intentions and all, but it'd be great to have them all done in one edit...ht14 19:58, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
I know. I guess I'll switch to going through the 4h's instead of the 4p's. It's not quite what I was planning, but it should still work. Goldenpoke111 22:39, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

It's Qwilfish, not Quilfish. ht14 04:15, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for changing that! I knew that I would eventually misspell something, and Qwilfish is one of the names I have trouble with. I'm just surprised that I got that far before missing something! Goldenpoke111 20:41, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
