Game location images
I just wanted to thank you for uploading images of game locations, sadly that isn't something I can do myself so I appreciate what you have done.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 02:19, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- Likewise. Just one thing, though: your images of a frozen Opelucid City also contain parts of the surrounding routes, which aren't part of the city. The frozen routes should probably have their own map images. Otherwise, great and invaluable job. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 13:36, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi thanks for uploading so many images for the Ranger games. They're really coming in handy for me when I'm adding to the pages. I just wanted to know how you get the images as I'd love to be able to contribute more images myself, especially sprites of the Pokémon and Characters. --Drjwho (talk) 23:25, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! Thank you for the compliments. I obtain images from Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs just by taking a bunch of screenshots, and editing them in MS Paint. Idkdkak (talk) 23:57, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
About your map uploads...
How did you make your image uploads for the BW/B2W2 locations? I'm asking bc I saw someone elsewhere point out that the version of the Pokémon Center map you uploaded uses an inaccurate camera angle, upscaled resolution, and emulator texture filtering, all of which seem counter to having a faithful representation of the in-game appearance. Zyxyz (talk) 04:48, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I use a fork of MelonDS called "melonripper", you can press the V key to rip a 3D model from all polygons being drawn. I then use blender to display that 3D model. Any inaccuracies stem from blender, and not any emulator process. Regarding the Pokémon Center image, I forgot to set it to the original resolution, so I'll be changing that when I can. The camera angle is actually accurate, but it visually doesn't line up with the game's camera perspective because the map uses isometric view. Idkdkak (talk) 12:38, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I tried to do this for BW but the only stuff that MelonRipper seems to rip is the 3D model only and not the textures. From what I can understand, this is common when importing a 3D model and requires a separate texture file to resolve. Was this also the case when you did this? How did you recover the textures?
