Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Vuvuzela2010!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Please upload anime screenshots as .png and not .jpg. Thanks. Jellotalk 17:17, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Second warning. Please upload anime screenshots as .png and not .jpg. Jellotalk 00:17, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Apologies, I was not aware I had recieved a warning in October, I will replace them as soon as I can (I am currently working with an extremely slow browser).Vuvuzela2010 10:28, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

You probably didn't upload the wrong file, the server just takes a while to update. --SnorlaxMonster 14:37, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it seems to be fine now, will that edit need to be reverted? Vuvuzela2010 15:18, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
One of the uploads may be deleted, but that won't affect you. Just remember that usually if you upload over an image it won't change straight away (but the dimensions will); it usually takes about a minute to correct itself. --SnorlaxMonster 02:00, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Colo Box sprites

If I might inquire, where did you get those images? It might be useful in the future, so I was just curious. --P S Yライダー 00:45, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

I found them on this page, to be more specific, the normal sprites here and and the shiny ones here Vuvuzela2010 08:28, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm busy with stuff outside of Archives so I can't move them all, so here's some admin tools to help you move them all and suppress the redirects. Thanks again for uploading the sprites. --P S Yライダー 23:11, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, though I can't take all the credit cause another user (MisterE13) also helped upload them. I think that's them all moved now. Vuvuzela2010 23:50, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
For XD sprites, the Trom suggests they don't be animated.--MisterE13 15:31, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Edit Summaries

When you upload an image, you must put down a summary of what is happening in the image. Pattyman 11:57, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

I do know that is needed, I just want to upload all the images first, then get round to adding summaries and categories. Vuvuzela2010 12:07, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Ok. As long as you know what you're doing. Keep it up. Pattyman 15:21, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking if you could upload an animated image of Shaymin (movie 11) (either forme) using Seed Flare since you're good with animated images with the anime. Pattyman 23:06, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Sure, I'll make a start on it now. Do you know what part of the film Shaymin uses Seed Flare at? Just to save me fast-forwarding the whole film, lol. Vuvuzela2010 23:51, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Also, what size do you want it? Vuvuzela2010 23:53, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
For Shaymin's Land Forme, it uses Seed Flare around the beginning where Dialga and Giratina are fighting and tries to escape. The Sky Forme uses it where Ash is fighting Zero and around the time Mamoswine & Regigigas are trying to stop the glacier attack, prior to Zero going to jail. Make the image at least 640 x 240. Pattyman 00:56, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Shiny Back Slugma.

This file isn't shown correctly. Can you re-upload it? Marked +-+-+ 19:23, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Its working fine with me, what's wrong with it (besides the lack of transparency, I'm no good at making images transparent)? Vuvuzela2010 19:44, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
For me, there is no image at all. Other are working fine. Maybe just give me the image, and I will make it transparent? Marked +-+-+ 19:50, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Here it is. Vuvuzela2010 19:54, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Done. I dunno why most sprites have "file missing" stuff. And yesterday (it was about 22:00 CEST when I went) everything was OK. Marked +-+-+ 14:53, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Switch images

Just curious, what are switch images? I saw the template on some of the Pokémon with different formes*. Pattyman 22:16, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

It's images that are used in switches on Bulbapedia, like on the pages for Castform, Rotom, etc. If they are used in a switch, like this one, they appear as unused on Bulbapedia, or they only link to other pages where the image is not used in a switch. Vuvuzela2010 08:25, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
What about moves that are used on a Pokémon (mostly the main character's) such as Ash's Roggenrola Pattyman 17:37, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
I forgot about those... yeah, they should have the template too, but it's midnight here and I'm knackered, lol, so I won't be able to make a start on adding them till the morning. Vuvuzela2010 22:58, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
I'll get started on some for you. Pattyman 23:33, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

If you're going to animate anime images

Please make them bigger, there's no use in having small images you can't see them. Thanks. --P S Yライダー 03:06, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the templates they are used in (Template:moveanime and Template:anmov) automatically resize them to 150px, and cause them to lose their animation if the file is bigger than 150px. XVuvuzela2010X 03:55, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Lapras ageing

I like your ageing Lapras image, but for some reason, when I added it in the article of Ash's Lapras, it doesn't seem to move. Do you know why? --FinnishPokéFan92 14:09, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

It's because the size of the image is 250px, but you had set it as 200px. For reason unknown (to me anyway), when animated PNG's are reduced in size in thumbnails, they no longer animate. But if they are increased in size, (like on the Anime move errors page) they still animate. I've fixed the page now, but I've not a clue why it does that. XVuvuzela2010X 19:41, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Animated anime images

Hey Vuvu, appreciate the help but we really don't have to animate the anime move images. Only if a certain move or an ability can not be explained with a still image, then we can consider its animated version i.e Zorua's illusion etc. So, please do not upload the animated anime images without discussing it with the staff members first. Thanks, have a nice day. ♫♪エイディニズ♪♫ 08:16, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Noted. XVuvuzela2010X 20:19, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello, you are not wrong about the consistency but just for the sake of it, a perfectly animated image should not be tagged with the "bad image" template. If you want it to be replaced by a Sandshrew one, it will be rather appropriate to ask the user for it than tagging it. Thank you, have a nice day. ♫♪エイディニズ♪♫ 03:38, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I did have reservations about adding it, as I know that its not actually a 'bad' image, but it was the only template that seemed appropriate. XVuvuzela2010X 18:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi. The only reason I didn't upload a shiny sandshrew encounter was because, well, there's no way to legitly run into a wild sandshrew in BW. And I don't really have the means to show a shiny sandshrew from that angle. So I went with the next best sand thing. I don't get why it's only shiny sandshrew on the page though, but yeah. -- Trainer Hunter -- 05:24, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

It's fine, don't worry about it. And apparently the animations are of Sandshrew because TTEchidna had one. XVuvuzela2010X 18:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Even though we have some information on M15 but there is absolutely no way to fully confirm its appearance. Rather than speculating it, we should wait, in order to avoid further confusion. So, please do not add it again until we have a confirmed answer. Thank you, have a nice day. ♫♪エイディニズ♪♫ 18:17, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

A request

When you have a chance, can you animate these two? Although the former is already animated, the animation itself looks a bit messy. Pattyman 03:07, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Anime images should only be animated sparingly. If the move can be convered with two images (i.e. one charging and one mid-move) then it certainly does not need to be animated. If it needs three images, that's not a guarantee that it should get animation. I'm not sure either of those need to be animated. Werdnae (talk) 05:47, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Stadium 2 Images

Hi, can I just make you aware that it has been decided here to make Stadium & Stadium 2 move images 640 x 480. Thanks.--Chalkwriter 15:49, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Box sprites

Where you got them? Since as far as I see they were originally .gifs. Marked +-+-+ 16:13, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

They were gif, but I converted them to png using this converter which was on the Archives To-do list. The only animated sprites that need uploaded now are the Shiny box sprites. XVuvuzela2010X 22:04, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Duplicate/Replaced Files

When adding {{delete}} to a duplicate/replaced file, remember to link to the duplicated/replacement file either in the template rationale or the edit summary. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:23, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Any reason for uploading this pic? Just checking in before I delete it. AdynizWanna talk? 08:46, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

It was from Sparks Fly For Magnemite, but it was decided it wouldnt be listed on the page. XVuvuzela2010X 12:21, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
