Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Yoroidori!

Thank you for joining our community! By creating your account you are now able to upload images to support Bulbapedia and Bulbagarden's other projects. This is a brief introduction to the Archives rules and resources to help you get started:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload.
    • There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit!
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are not allowed. Any personal images found will be promptly removed.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or feel free to ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Your image

Hi. Just letting you know that the Hugh concept art you submitted was rejected in moderation since it was found in the recent leak of GF documents, and so was not officially released to the public and should not be uploaded to the Archives here. It is good practice to only upload images released or sanctioned by official sources, and to provide a source for the image too. Thespeon196 (talk) 22:23, 27 April 2025 (UTC) UTC)Reply

Ok, I understand. The leak policy does bug me though... For one thing, there are already images, such as unused sprites from games (e.g. the unused Steven sprite from Ranger) and ripped assets from said games that I'm almost certain TPC/Game Freak isn't too happy about, but they're ubiquitous on the site. It's also worth mentioning that there is a sprite of Silver (and possibly other entities as well) from unreleased prototypes that are on their respective pages as well.
TPC hasn't taken action though (most likely because they can't for legal reasons I'm not aware of), but Bulbapedia is a project that has probably never been viewed favorably by TPC at all, and if they could find some thread of information here to take us to court about, they absolutely would. I'm saying all of this because if we're already using ripped/unused/prototype assets without repercussions, why not go all in? If this policy is to make us look professional or "affiliated" with TPC, then, frankly, that was never anything feasible to begin with. Yoroidori (talk) 23:01, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
A big reason that a site like ours is allowed to continue is because the creators and rights holders of Pokémon, like TPC, allow it to do so.
For this reason, we would rather not do anything that would cause them to rethink their apparent acceptance of the prominent fan encyclopedia that is Bulbapedia.
Some old sprites like ones you mentioned are the exception rather than the rule, and have been around for long enough that we can be confident that they're at least tacitly accepted. I've linked the unreleased materials policy for details.
To reiterate, given the current climate, it would be unwise of us to even consider putting a target on ourselves by using the recent leaked images on wiki. Thespeon196 (talk) 23:27, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ah, it's interesting hearing your belief that TPC might be more tolerant than I give them credit for, possibly because Bulbapedia boosts visibility of their IP and keeps existing fans engaged.
I also didn't realize how recent the Hugh concept art was leaked/if it was leaked at all. I thought it was present in the collector's edition of the Prima B2W2 strategy guide as well as part of the advertised "unique art assets," but I haven't secured a copy for myself to see yet.
I understand your caution regarding this situation, though. Yoroidori (talk) 23:56, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hugh concept art

Hi again! A couple of things, would you be able to upload a smaller version of the concept art scan with 1920 pixels as the largest length. It's too oversized at the minute, and would look just as good at 1920 size. Also, I'm wondering if you would be able to rescan it without the image/paper below it showing through? Hi! I will definitely upload smaller images, I wasn't aware of the size limit until now. Sorry about that! I'm also attempting to scan the concept art in higher quality too. Seeing how that goes. Yoroidori (talk) 21:52, 3 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your uploads, glad you were able to find the Hugh artwork and scan it! Thespeon196 (talk) 22:15, 3 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
