Linking in summaries

Please use the {{bp}} template to link to Bulbapedia articles. Regular links link to pages in Archives (which does, of course, not have an article for SSBM or Photography). Thanks! UltimateSephiroth 16:43, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I guess you knew this already after all. Just ignore this. :p UltimateSephiroth 16:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Anime pics

Anime pics have to be .png format, because it is a higher quality pic format. --Hmdwgf 20:47, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Done - Chosen of Mana - 03:31, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Good job. One thing: there's a logo at the top right of the pic. But this is easy to miss because it is very small and transparent. Don't feel bad, there are many other pics with that same logo on this website. Please don't upload any pics with logos on them. Other than that, good job so far. --Hmdwgf 08:33, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Gold sprites

Shouldn't they be in 56 x 56 format? Just wondering, since File:Spr 2g 001.png is in that format. ht14 18:42, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

I suppose I should, seeing as TTE approved of it. That's gonna impede progress, however. - Chosen of Mana - 18:51, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Hey, just stating the facts. So... yeah. ht14 18:54, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the trainer templates

Thanks so much for that, but don't forget to tell an admin to delete the template after using it. ht14 21:21, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Requesting image

... of Max and his Ralts. It seems somewhat redundant on his page when there's two identical images of Max and Ralts... ht14 01:57, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply... is a PNG version of the current .jpg what you were asking for? - Chosen of Mana 15:40, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Nope, never mind. Problem's solved. Thanks anyway. ht14 21:11, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Another request, I hope you don't mind. Misty's Gyarados as a Magikarp. Apparently the article says it was shown, so... yeah. ht14 20:18, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey

You're doing an awesome job, thank you so much! Would you mind working on the Gen V sprites first though? Thanks! Jellotalk 19:13, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

About categories

For BW, since everything is in Japanese and we'll be getting the English version in a couple of months anyway, I've told people to avoid creating them, because they'll end up being deleted anyway to make room for the English version. Thanks. Jellotalk 20:06, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Official congratulations

You've been here for a while but I thought I'd make this more official. Thanks for all the hard work you've done on the Archives. Welcome aboard the new team. I trust that you will continue to use your powers for good and help keep this place organized. There's always stuff to do on the Archives and we depend on people like you to keep things smooth! (I hope you'll be more active here now too). Jellotalk 09:32, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Small heads up.

Saw your userpage and what you tried to do, change it for this: #REDIRECT[[bp:User:Chosen]], and you'll have it redirected. Masatoshitalk 17:23, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your help! --- Chosen of Mana 17:30, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Piece of advice

When adding in the Location template for the images, it is not really necessary to do them on the jpgs or gifs as those can get replaced over time with a png. If you do see those, you can tag them with the jpg/gif template. Pattyman 20:05, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Not entirely true. Just because a file is not of the proper file format, does not mean it should be passed over for proper summary/category fixes. So, please, keep up with the proper location template work. But, yes, they should also get the fitting replacement tag so people who want to help out by doing needed jpg/gif replacements can also find that it is an image that needs such replacing. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:19, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Piece of advice #2

Please be a little more careful when modifying the summary and licensing of images, you have been replacing anime templates with game ones. Masatoshitalk 06:41, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Aw, man. I'm sorry I keep screwing up. I'm gonna take a break. - Chosen of Mana 20:00, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

File

Can you resize it? Didn't had time to do that. And the overworld sprite template is usable for more than two games? Since I'll guess the sprite is the same in Gold/Silver... Marked +-+-+ 19:44, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

The sprite was only two X-pixels off from that of Red OD II.png, so I just added on one on each side. The overworld template's third parameter can use any sort of text and link templates, so if you wanted to say Gold, Silver, and Crystal, you would just type {{bp|Pokémon Gold and Silver Versions|Gold, Silver}} and {{bp|Pokémon Crystal Version|Crystal}} - Chosen of Mana 20:00, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

{{WTP}}

Uh, who gave you approval for that template to be moved from the userspace & set into active use? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:04, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Ah, dammit. I didn't realize I stepped out of line. I had tested it and it was working, so I thought it would be OK. - Chosen of Mana 14:06, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
I actually was planning on making modifications to it today before giving it approval for use. We've had a few questions & ideas regarding the categorization of the Dare Da? and Pocket Monster TV images, which would have been great to address & get working before setting this template out live. So, for the moment, don't add the template to any more files. Since the modifications I'll be making in a few hours may break all the files you've already added this too ^^; And, yeah, wait for approval next time before setting a template out into live use and make sure to get opinions before making major modifications to how any current template works/displays. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:17, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

The MGM parody file

Both of those files were uploaded at the same time and neither of us knew that we had one before. Just letting you know. Pattyman 22:29, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Shiny Custom Menu Sprites

Could you upload custom shiny sprites for events, please? The ones that are needed are Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Eevee, Pichu, Larvitar, Milotic, Volcarona, Golurk, Hydreigon, and Zigzagoon. Lady Ariel (talk) 17:40, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I was told elsewhere that the shiny beasts weren't worth the trouble. But, I'd gladly do the rest, provided you show me where they would all be used. Keep in mind I do not have the tools to make aniPNG images. - Chosen of Mana 20:49, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
The article that would use them is List of notable ID numbers. Lady Ariel (talk) 20:57, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

{{Pokéstar}}

As I told you about {{WTP}}, templates require approval before being used. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:06, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

****, I knew I was going to get in trouble... Still, I don't think the Portraits should go under the trainer sprites. - Chosen of Mana 05:12, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree entirely about those portraits, actually. However, after what happened with {{WTP}} in April, you really should know that you need to get approval of the template before it is added to the Template namespace and put into active use. I've reviewed the template and it seems alright, so you can continue to add it to the relevant files. I expect you to properly seek template approval in the future. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:22, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Upload problem

I ended up uploading an image that I thought I made animated but ended up having problems with it. I didn't mean to cause problems so I'm informing an Administrator. I apologize and if the image can be removed that would be appreciated. Ms. Who 22:22, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Ms. Who! Unfortunately, I'm not very good with animated images... maybe you should ask Marked +-+-+? He's done a lot of animated PNGs for Bulbapedia. - Chosen of Mana 23:08, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, I looked at his page and I managed to figure out how to get an animated .png file made. If the image has not been deleted yet I will replace it with the animated one. Ms. Who 00:06, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Black/White 2 Item Sprite

Sorry I'm not quite familiar with wiki-like websites... I just upload those files... Bag Reveal Glass Sprite.png Bag Oval Charm Sprite.png Bag Grubby Hanky Sprite.png Bag Permit Sprite.png But not sure how to use them into our existing pages... For example, into this page: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_items_by_index_number_(Generation_V) anping87 22:42, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, anping! There's usually some lag between uploading an image and when it becomes viewable on pages. Give it some time. — Chosen of Mana 02:23, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

You gotta check the forums more often...though I suppose I could have messaged you here instead of there. -- MAGNEDETH 16:42, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Template:Location

Hi, thanks for your work on updating the template, but before making any changes, please make sure you discuss it with the rest of the staff first. We had decided to use PMDMIL for consistency with initials, and Pikachu and Oshawott as mascots. I've done all necessary changes and they're now fixed. Masatoshitalk 16:48, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Change reporter and cameraman OD files

Hi there Chosen, can you please change the file name of Reporter OD.png and Cameraman OD.png to Reporter OD DP.png and Cameraman DP OD.png as I have already uploaded the images for Gabby and Ty's OD sprite. Thanks. Agent5514 (talk) 13:34, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Last I was told, the trainer OD sprites are given generational parameters (i.e. IV, DPPt) only if there is a more up-to-date version in a new generation. Since there is no Cameraman or Interviewer class in Generation IV, the files in question do not need to be updated.
For future reference, all Hoenn overworld sprites fitting the above description should be labeled "RSE", not "RS". - Chosen of Mana 11:45, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

You missed a file

Hi Chosen, of all the files you deleted, you forgot to delete Cameraman RSE OD.png. Thanks. Agent5514 (talk) 05:20, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

I messed up!

I'm not sure you're the right guy to talk to, but I uploaded some sprites of PokéBlocks a few minutes ago, but I forgot to put the licensing tag on a few of them. What do I do? Spongeabc5 (talk) 23:43, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Don't worry. Just replace the current licencing template with "i-Fairuse-sprite-game". Easy, right? - Chosen of Mana 23:59, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong place, but I can't see a licencing tag. I left the "Licensing" to "None Selected" when I uploaded it. Spongeabc5 (talk) 00:17, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I get it now. In that case, you'll need to put in the information manually. I took care your mistakes. Please be more careful in the future. - Chosen of Mana 01:48, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Color correction on sugi art

Hey. I noticed the current art for tentacruel and gengar had modified colors, so I edited them to appear as they do in official products. That is, as the art appears in guidebooks and such. Tentacreul had a slight purple tint over it, so I just removed that, and for gengar, it was edited to appear as he does in the games, so I undid that.

The issue is, I can't update those files, it won't let me. If you could do it for me, that would be great.

It's worth noting that tentacruel is still a tiny bit off, but it's as good as I can get it for now, and it's much closer to the actual art's colors than it was.

Tentacruel: [1] Gengar: [2] Jabberwockxeno (talk) 13:28, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Just noticed tentacool was slightly purple, too. Fixed that as well. Link to file: [3] Jabberwockxeno (talk) 13:34, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Actually, it seems a LOT of the current versions of the sugi art are slightly off color wise. I don't have the time to do them all, but you guys may want to compare it to guidebooks and such. I'll continue to post more corrected ones here, as I do them.
Bulbasaur: [4] Jabberwockxeno (talk)

Hello, Jabberwockxeno. As you might have noticed, the memebers of the Archives are always editing and re-editing Sugimori Pokémon artwork to get them as close to the genuine article as possible. Since this is a wiki, every user can upload a new version of almost any picture on the site. If you feel like the color corrected artworks you've made are better than the ones we currently have, please feel free to upload them, provided their dimensions are identical (i.e. 252 x 252, 785 x 785). I'll make sure then other Archives admins see this, but please note that we are always looking for ways to improve the quality of the artwork we have on Bulbapedia. - Chosen of Mana 14:49, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

The thing is, it won't let me update those images. It says it cannot be overwritten. The dimensions are all identical, with the exception of bulbasaur's, which I found a higher resolution version of and I worked off of that. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 14:56, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
I believe a restriction was recently put in place to prevent new users from uploading until a week has passed due to a rash of spam uploaders. I don't think there's much I can do about that. - Chosen of Mana 15:16, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
As in, a week has to pass for each file update, or the user must be older than a week? Because i've been a user for longer than a week, and the message is still there even if the last update was more than a week ago Jabberwockxeno (talk) 15:20, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
OK that's certainly weird. I think you'd be better suited asking one of the admins higher in rank than me. They know more about the mechanics of the wiki itself. - Chosen of Mana 15:35, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Well, I've contacted a few, and no replies yet. So we'll see. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 21:03, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Brandondorf9999

This user has a history of being blocked on other NIWA wikis (see here for a sampler) for problematic edits to images, including erroneous recoloring and screenshots of games with inaccurate appearance due to emulator settings. I encourage you to carefully keep an eye on him since he seems to be doing the same kind of thing again here. Miles (talk) 03:36, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

I understand. I'll pass this on to the other members of the staff. - Chosen of Mana 17:43, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Obvious cheats in screenshots?

Brandondorf9999‎ is uploading screenshots for the Pokemon Stadium games that are very obviously using cheats, with some examples (such as Rapidash using Poison Sting) being more egregious than others (all the screenshots that show Pokemon with 999 HP). I'm not sure if this is, necessarily, unacceptable or not, but I do believe it should be (certainly for the things like Rapidash). It might be nice if a staff member commented on the current discussion. Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:17, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Sorry

My mistake. Can you delete the picture please and sorry once again. I didn't know. Thanks, Dbeckelheimer6 (talk) 01:48, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

I've taken care of it. In the future, make sure to read the rules and Manual of style. Keep an eye on the Council messages on the front page, too! - Chosen of Mana 01:54, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

location template question

Hey there, I noticed that you added "region = Unova" to some location templates on the summaries of my uploaded maps. Not sure why it's needed, as the image is automatically added to the Unova maps category on account of the game being B2W2. Seems like unnecessary text to me. Jdthebud (talk) 08:38, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

The Gym version of the location templates will not fill in the region colors behind the badge images unless the "region" parameter is inputted. Without it, the template looks broken. - Chosen of Mana 15:05, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
I see, I will keep that in mind then. Thanks. Jdthebud (talk) 17:56, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Image help

Could you help me upload a picture for Ash and Pikachu in Kalos and put it for Ash's Pikachu biography page. I tried to do it but I'm having trouble.-- JasonL (talk)

I would love to help, but first, could you show me what you want to upload and tell me what errors you are receiving? - Chosen of Mana 04:03, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
This one. https://zapp.trakt.us/images/episodes/3152-16-1.jpg?28 and the error says didn't go through. -- JasonL (talk) 23:56, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
What's the file name you're using? - Chosen of Mana 00:10, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
Both of them in Kalos-- JasonL (talk) 00:23, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
So you're trying to make a new file altogether? Try uploading the file again. This time, I want you to copy and paste the error message that appears.
While I'm at it, I should mention that .png format files are preferred for anime screen caps, due to their lower filesize. - Chosen of Mana 00:35, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Still didn't work.-- JasonL (talk) 01:06, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Can you copy, word for word, what you wanted to name the file, and the error message that appeared? - Chosen of Mana 02:19, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

https://zapp.trakt.us/images/episodes/3152-16-1.jpg?28 It says can't be uploaded. -- JasonL (talk) 16:14, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

I mean what are you typing in as the filename. Is it "Ash and Pikachu in Kalos.jpg" or something? When you get the error, I want you to highlight the text, right click it, select "Copy", come here, start your reply, right-click, and click "Paste". - Chosen of Mana 16:20, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

I did that but no dice. -- JasonL (talk) 10:46, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

That's strange. I'm afraid I don't have any other ideas. Maybe you should try asking one of the higher-ups? - Chosen of Mana 16:31, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

I'll try something else -- JasonL (talk) 04:10, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
