TCG Categories

Make sure that when you upload cards, the set category also has the number in the next parameter at the end. Like so: Power Keepers 28 would be , but Base set charizard would be . The amount of zeros shows how many cards is in the set, anything over 100 gets 3 digits of numbers, anything less gets only 2. Understand? Please remember to do this if you upload more in the future, since it is part of style. Maverick Nate 22:56, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Will do. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 04:14, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

pngs

I would highly prefer if you used jpgs. The pngs are extremely too bright and are of low quality, that is the reason we use jpgs for cards. If you could, try to use jpgs, okay. And don't upload anything between Hidden Legends and Unseen forces until after I do please. Maverick Nate 19:13, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Alrighty, I'll do my best to use JPGs, but I will definitely have to have them within the 400x600 (approx) size. I'm not sure as to why, but at about that size and at 100% quality, JPG versions will be at about 300-400KB. My original size, 800x1200 (approx) would have saved at 1.3MB at that same quality in JPG format. Since I am often on a Dial-Up Connection, the latter size is just a little too big (the 500KB PNGs taking 10min to upload) that was why I used the smaller PNG format.
The brightness of them shouldn't be from the file format. When I preview the images before saving, no matter what format I wish to use, they're almost identical the only difference I have noticed is very slight colour limitations. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 20:51, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
If it is that much of a problem for you, then use the pngs. I just like it when all the cards are in jpg so that instead of uploading a new card and editing the page in order to change it, you can upload a new version of a card and it becomes twice as easy to update poor images. Maverick Nate 21:23, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry

I kind of started working under you at the same time on the same set. But I wanted to get my Aquapolis collection done before you started yours. Sorry, but If we work together, we might fill in each other's gaps. Maverick Nate 02:27, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

No worries Mav, hopefully we can fill a large portion of the set! - Kogoro | Talk to me | 02:31, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Whenever you want, you can move into the EX era. I am at the tail end and am done with it all the way up to Holon Phantoms. Maverick Nate 03:46, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, my next project is actually Skyridge, but after that is the EX era ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me | 03:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I guess I can work behind you on Skyridge, unless I catch up, but I have other things I want to accomplish first. Maverick Nate 03:49, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
I'd say accomplish what you want first, then gap-fill in Skyridge (I have a very weak set in Aquapolis & Skyridge) sound good? - Kogoro | Talk to me | 03:51, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that works. I also have a couple of the Japanese counterparts to Aquapolis and Skyridge, I can fill in gaps that way too. Maverick Nate 03:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Awesome! I'm done with what I can add to Aquapolis, so I am now moving onto Skyridge. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 03:59, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Huh?

Where does it say that? Ugh. . Whatever. -_- You delete all of them, for God's sake. (I don't know how. .) シンジShinjiLover,Edits

RE: Spinda

I never uploaded any shiny Spinda.--Tavisource 02:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Um, yes you did Tavi. File:Spr 3r 327 s.png, uploaded by Tavisource at 00:35, 14 April 2009 (UTC), deleted by me at 08:49, 14 April 2009 (UTC). Could it have been a mistaken upload? The image was 80 x 80 pixels, and seems to have been a RS & FRLG non-shiny sprite. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 19:19, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Can you restore some pics?

I uploaded PNG versions of the Sinnoh Frontier Brains but Nyoo deleted them calling them duplicate files. I was merely uploading higher quality version of them. Nyoo's versions are JPG. I would do it myself but I don't have admin powers on the archives. --Kenji-girl 06:08, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Done. I'm also giving you admin powers here. You're the leader of Project Anime, which makes you work with a lot of anime images, so you should have it. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 07:54, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks bunches!! --Kenji-girl 08:21, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
You were MERELY re-uploading my jpgs as png. They have no higher quality at all. And it's quite sneaky to complain on my talk page and then ask another admin to undo right after. --Nyoo 18:31, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay, since I'm being ignored again, I'll list the reasons for the delete once again:
1. Kenji-girl took the existing jpgs and saved them as png, which is P O I N T L E S S.
2. As a result of 1., the claimed quality improvement here is not the case at all: comparison of both uploads
3. There is no reason to replace existing uploads by default, especially when they have no improvement at all (see 1.).
4. Since these are not anime screenshots for some special template, there appears to be no reason for the art being saved as png. If I am wrong about this, how about pointing it out this forum thread, because it doesn't seem like a resolved issue yet.
Furthermore, you, Kogoro, apparently didn't even check why the files were deleted and just undid another sysop's action without considering the reasons. Because of the three arguments above, I am going to delete these redundant files again and for the future, I wish to be not treated like a noob and ignored when I bring up uncomfortable arguments. I am sorry for probably coming across angry and rude, but it is very distressing to be treated like this. I don't do things for no reason, so don't act as if that was the case, please! --Nyoo 13:04, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
1. Not only did she turn them into PNG, she also made the backgrounds transparent. Check all information about an image before claiming that it was only converted.
2. The quality improvement, I assume was the transparent background. Take that up with Kenji-girl.
3. Transparency, that is an improvement. Allows the image to be used more actively on the Bulbawiki network.
4. I saw the thread back a long time ago, it's much more than just anime screenshots that should be PNG format.
5. Actually, I did check why they were deleted, and I chose your rationale of "duplicate image" was not sufficient. Re-deleting the images, is not acceptable. The images of the Sinnoh Frontier Brains should be PNGs, and there were changes to the images that make the images acceptable for keeping. If you feel you are being treated as a "noob" perhaps you should look at your actions, and wonder if they should have been done in the first place. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 19:42, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Golden Poliwhirl

I made a Black & White Golden Poliwhirl award sprite for Bulbapedia if you want it, but it still needs the shiny sparkle things and I'm not sure where to post it. You just tell me where so you don't have to do the work. --BeeBwakka 22:38, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Re:Link Templates

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to be more careful next time. --Chickasaurus 18:45, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

About the Moves (anime) category

What does it mean when an image on the list is out of order? For example, File:Harley Banette Frustration.png is before File:Baron Lickilicky Wrap.png and is after File:Bagon Zen Headbutt.png. The letter B went after H. Pattyman 05:11, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

It seems that the category is still ordering it via the Banette image's original filename (File:Banette Frustration.png). Alphabetically, Bagon comes before Banette, which comes before Baron. Not sure why it's still ordering via the original filename, though. We'll look into it. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 05:31, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
When the category gets removed and placed back, it follows the order of the current filename, as it was tried when the mva template was added in the images after they were moved. Pattyman 22:15, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

uploaded bad image

So, I tried to make this image transparent, but the png I uploaded is not up to par with the original jpg. should I have someone delete it, or just mark it as bad quality and leave it? Frankly, I'm not going to try it again... --Jdthebud 10:52, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

If the conversion from JPG to transparent PNG caused quality loss, I'd say we'd be better off keeping the original JPG. At least until someone else can either convert it without quality loss, or take a different transparent PNG picture with equal or better quality to the current JPG. Thanks for trying, though. Apologies for the late reply. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 09:52, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

The exclamation mark

In file names, are exclamation marks (!) allowed in them? I'm not sure if they are considered the non-alphanumeric characters. Pattyman 06:34, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Alphanumeric characters means A-Z, a-z, and 0-9. The "hyphen-minus" (often called a dash, "-" ) and underscores (the software's replacement for spaces "_" ) are also fine to use. Exclamation marks are URL safe, but keep them out of the file names for new images for the time being. If there are any files that already have exclamation marks in their names, drop a link to them here and I'll see if they should keep the exclamation mark or not. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 07:12, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
File:OK! CD.jpg and File:Thunder!TyranitarexConstructedDeck.jpg are two images with exclamation marks. Pattyman 17:20, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
The exclamation points there shouldn't be harming anything, nor do the images need them in their names... Eh, just leave them as they are for now. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 02:11, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Individual Move Categories?

Congratulations on your promotion, and merry Christmas! My request is, should moves have individual categories, like the Pokémon do? Some moves have a fair number of images (Hyper Beam), and it would be more helpful having all their anime, manga, game, etc. images in one place. It wouldnt be too hellish to implement, since a couple of edits to the move templates would automatically add the respective move category to almost every move image, and the only real work would be creating the categories. What do you think? XVuvuzela2010X 00:09, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

We're not going to start up any major projects until a little bit after the new year. So, at least for the time being, we're not going to do categories like that. I'll give you an updated answer when we're ready for new major projects. But for now, keep up with general work & the to-do list. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 02:11, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Game maps

Do you think there should be separate sets of game maps (similar to what we have for this) and have them named something like this: [location] [game] map.png? For example, Pallet Town HGSS map.png (if from HeartGold and SoulSilver) or Pallet Town GSC map.png (if from Gold, Silver and Crystal). There's not that many game maps on here currently and a majority of them are gifs, so I don't think it is a problem. Pattyman 23:30, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Do you mean overworld maps, or the mini-maps from the Town Map/Pokégear/PokéNav? Overworld maps; we're already working on a few things related to those. Mini-maps; I don't really see any reason to have those from earlier generations. (Other than the base map for display of how the Town Maps looked between generations/games) - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:36, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
The mini-maps from the three. Pattyman 16:19, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
Something like this to be specific. Pattyman 21:45, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Game maps #2

Werdnae recommended me to talk to you about this. The town maps are actually supposed to be saved as gifs due to viewing on different browsers. Since some of those maps were saved as pngs, can we keep those pngs that are on the site? Pattyman 14:18, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to have a discussion with Werdnae, then I'll get back to you about this. For now, please refrain from doing anything with Town Map images. Thanks - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:30, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
Alright, after a discussion with Werdnae, a few decisions have been made:
 1. Area-Highlighted Town Maps will be updated to png format, with the full-highlight frame as the native/first frame. This assures that all browsers will display the maps with the intended area highlighting.
 2. Filenames for the Area-Highlighted Town Maps will be: File:[Region] [Location] Map.png. As an example: File:Unova Route 1 Map.png.
 3. Area-Highlighted Unova Maps require a more vivid highlight. The current highlight are easy to lose on locations such as Challenger's Cave, likely due to the common Red/Green color blindness & the similar darkness level of both colors in current use. My preference would be to use pure red, Hex code #FF0000. I've done a few small tests with red replacing the current pink, the red highlight was much easier to notice when compared to the other small dots in green.
I hope this settles everything. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:44, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

D:

That... that's the wrong app. I was just about to tell you that when you moved it.Tempest370 13:18, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

I fixed the file as well as fixing the filename. No need to worry. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 13:20, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Area highlighted maps

Should the images from Category:Area highlighted maps be categorized also under the respective categories for regions? (i.e. Category:Hoenn maps, Category:Sinnoh maps, etc.)?

Currently most are not, but some are. If they should, then it is better to do it through the Regionmap template. (adding <includeonly></includeonly> to its source). Ruxax 10:49, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

I'd prefer the Town Maps not be put into those categories. I'd like to have those categories be used specifically on maps that are traversed by players via overworld sprites. After the png updates for the Town Maps are complete, we may work on some additional categorization through the template. One step at a time. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:40, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Generation II menu sprites

Went through all 251 Pokémon, and uploaded 37 sprites, even uploaded animated version of egg's sprite (for article). I am unsure of the name for this, and these two need to be moved, since the latter happens to not be unique, and the former... well I have no idea how to name it. Anyway, I have no idea for the new name of these. FF has glitchy sprite, FE has this (which looks like Lapras btw), while FC and 00 crash. Marked +-+-+ 11:53, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

It seems the Staryu/Starmie menu sprite was missing, so I've uploaded that one (could be a Crystal only sprite). As for renames, I'll look into them & shift them about in the next few days. For now, they're all uploaded & categorized. Not really worried about glitches since they have a tendency to draw on data that's not even meant to be a sprite. Great work on the Gen II MS, keep it up! :3 - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:40, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I know I forgot about Staryu line (it's not exclusive to Crystal) >_> Also, getting closer to National Diploma in FRLG, 243 out of 386 (most missing are Hoenn Pokémon), so expect to get it uploaded this year. RS National Diploma on other hand... not sure, with luck I should get this year. Marked +-+-+ 13:06, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Errors

I know that I shouldn't ask you, but still. Could you delete the DP images from the Candidates for deletion category ? I need those to be deleted in order to upload a non-watermarked version, it's been past a day and no one deleted it (and yes I can't upload a new version over the old one since the watermark still won't go away). Thank you ! ----DJWolfy 14:11, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

The second uploads are appearing fine on the Archives for me. If the issue is on the Bulbapedia side, then it's just that the CDN hasn't updated the file yet. It's not instant. I don't see any reason to delete anything. Also, make sure that you create a new section for a new issue rather than tacking it on the end of an unrelated topic. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:22, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Uhm, I don't really understand what you meant by a new section. And anyway, two images still have their watermarks since I haven't uploaded a new version over them. The moment they are deleted I'll work on the watermarks. There is one without watermark which another user fixed it, that's fine and there's the other one. And that's that so far.----DJWolfy 15:25, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh wait, yes I see now, I forgot to make a new section. Sorry I was unattentive.----DJWolfy 15:26, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
You're obviously capable of uploading over existing images, as you've already done so a few times.
 • File:DP191 Error.png seems to be having a thumbnail issue, but the full-size file is appearing fine. No real reason to entirely delete the file cause of a minor glitch. I can look into getting that fixed.
 • File:DP191 Error 2.png has no watermark, there is no reason to delete it. It should, however, be replaced with a full-screenshot without a watermark rather than a cropped shot.
 • File:DP191 Error 4.png is the only one still certainly watermarked. Just try uploading over it before slapping a delete tag on it.
If you're still seeing a watermark on the full-size versions of the ones you have changed; the issue is because of your browser cache, not the Archives. Like I said, I am not seeing a reason to delete these files other than to cover-up your mistake. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:36, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Whatever, I'll do as you say. And then I'll add the images to their respective pages, but again, if the watermark shows up I won't take it as my problem this time.----DJWolfy 15:45, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

I wonder

While fixing redlinks, I saw many categories which have a lot of images under it and those categories were marked as redlinks (ex: Battle Theme Deck: Victini‏‎). Shouldn't there be made a category for those ?----DJWolfy 07:37, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon sprites

I'm planning on doing some of the Mystery Dungeon front sprites, but I'm a bit confused by what the canvas size should be. Should they be 32 x 32 (extended if the sprite won't fit into this) or 67 x 68?--Chalkwriter 17:23, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Kogoro?--Chalkwriter 20:17, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, been a bit busy. Generally 32×32px, increased only if required. File height and width should be kept even, so a file needing 71px of height should also be 71px wide. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:55, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Resolution Policy

What year was the Resolution Policy put into place? G50 03:53, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Okay, thank you. G50 04:02, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Enta BF manga

The png image of Enta in Battle Frontier has horrible quality. The jpg's quality is better. What should we do? Pattyman (talk) 02:30, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Never mind, Werdnae just uploaded a better one. Pattyman (talk) 12:22, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Bulbanews Tags

So that I understand this correctly, Bulbanews tags are only used if Bulbanews is their only purpose for being uploaded to the Archives? G50 05:14, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Only if the file is specifically for Bulbanews use and is licensed as fair use. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:22, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I understand. G50 05:39, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Gen. V moves

When will it be a good time to add the V in the 5th generation moves? So far, Meteor Mash's animation was confirmed to be the same in bw and b2w2 when I was watching the b2w2 trailer. Pattyman (talk) 20:31, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

The filenames File:Move.png are meant to always be the most recent version of the move's animation. If B2W2 has any different animations, the BW versions will be moved to applicable filenames to accommodate for a new upload. Same will be true for moves with the same animation through Generation V, they will not be moved until a Generation VI version is ready for upload. B2W2 versions of Freeze Shock and Ice Burn have been moved accordingly. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:36, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

B2W2 Sprites

I would like to ask to help out with the B2W2 Sprites. G50 09:53, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Which specific section of the B2W2 Pokémon sprites were you looking to work on? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:21, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
The back sprites. G50 01:56, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
How does Johto shiny back sprites sound to you? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:21, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. G50 02:28, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Before you start, can you please tell me the steps you plan to take? I'd like to make sure you've got everything down correctly. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:31, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
By steps, Do you mean like 1) check if the sprites are the same as Black and White, 2) If they are the same, then redirect instead of upload; if not, upload. 3) Categorize, 4) Tag. G50 02:57, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Those are pretty much the steps.
 1. Compare BW and B2W2 back sprites. (Some compare all sprites first, others do them in groups)
 2. Upload the unique B2W2 back sprites with proper summary and licensing.
 3. Add new inclusion of backsprite for B2W2 to re-used BW back sprites.
 4. Redirect the B2W2 filenames for the re-used BW back sprites.
And, that should cover everything. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:33, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Okay. G50 03:42, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

B2W2 sprites

Hi, I'm new here, but I have a ton of pics for B2W2. I'll be happy to work on any section. --Pyro (talk) 13:42, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I apologize, but I must respectfully decline your offer since you're far too new and unfamiliar to Bulbawiki policies. Perhaps during the next major release, when you have been around longer, are better familiarized with our policies, and have established yourself through your contributions. Again, I apologize. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:24, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

A couple of things.

 1. You may have seen the message above your latest warning to me. Ariel has requested that I make custom shiny MS sprites for several event shinies, including the Ledgedndary beasts, which, according to Jo, were shot down by the higher-ups when she asked. I prepared the sprites as Ariel asked, but wanted to consult one of you guys before doing something rash again.
 2. I was also asked by the new user Flare047872 to upload a HGSS version of the Mahogany Town shop that he had received permission to use. He mentioned that he couldn't upload it himself, and sure enough, when I looked him up on the Archives, he wasn't registered. Is this normal? If it's at all possible, I'd rather he uploaded it, since he was the one who asked in the first place. If not, I'll do it myself.

- Chosen of Mana 21:40, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

After a discussion with members of the AC, we've got some decisions:
 1. CustomMS are only to be done for exceptionally special cases, upon approval of the senior staff. Unfortunately, none of these cases are considered exceptionally special and the normal MS sprites will have to suffice.
 2. Biggest issue with the file here, we can't credit to DeviantArt accounts/pages. Since we're all about accuracy & authenticity of our information, crediting to an artistic community may result in questions regarding if the image is ripped from the games, an edit, or a custom image.
 3. As for the user being without an Archives account, they may need to either attempt a manual login to the Archives using the same information as their Bulbapedia account. If that fails to work, they may need to use the account merger tool while logged into Bulbapedia. That should force the system to create their global account to allow them to login locally to the Archives.
Hopefully that handles everything, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:56, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Question Regarding Images from Serebii

Are images from Serebii allowed to be uploaded here? I don't think they are, but I just want to know so the conflict can be resolved for the Unova 2.png file. I already reverted it once since it is an image from Serebii. However the same user put the image back on. I know it is an image from Serebii since it is a custom image featuring the images from Black and White, instead of just the locations from Black 2 and White 2. If images from Serebii aren't allow (which I don't think they are and I am pretty sure that custom images aren't allowed either) I will let you take care of it, since I am not sure what to do and I don't want to start an edit war. Lady Ariel (talk) 14:59, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Images from Serebii are not allowed to be uploaded to the Bulbagarden Archives. While the upload at 20:51, August 2, 2012 (UTC) is certainly stolen, the second upload from 01:25, August 3, 2012 (UTC) does not appear to be the same image. It lacks locations like Route 10 and the original Victory Road. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:17, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Externalcredit

How does the externalcredit template work? Could be something to source images. The term sounds like extra credit. Pattyman (talk) 04:04, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

It's meant to be used when we come to agreements with other sites willing to allow us to use their images but have the requirement of additional credit back to their site for the image. As the template notes, it's only to be used for image providers approved by executive staff. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:42, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Shouldn't flib go on there for the anime images (if that applies)? Pattyman (talk) 02:08, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
I'll get back to you on that one. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:43, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

B2W2 back sprites

I noticed that the back sprites for Sneasel non-shiny and shiny for B2W2 and BW look slightly different in the eyes. I was wondering if you could check that there is indeed a difference. G50 05:55, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

There is a difference in the eyes of Sneasel's backsprites. Good catch. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:43, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure how to make sprites transparent. For Tyranitar shiny B2W2 back sprite and Houndour shiny B2W2 back sprite with GIMP. G50 07:57, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Unfortunately, since I use Photoshop, I don't happen to know the specifics used with GIMP for sprite transparency. I can, however, offer to do those few uploads. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:18, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Please do. G50 08:27, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon

Not sure if animate sprites so one file shows all 8 positions. Oh, and like if it wasn't enough, apparently Pokémon have another sprite for sleeping (probably one for each) Marked +-+-+ (talk) 13:39, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon Pokémon sprites should not be animated to display all 8 directions, nor should all 8 directions be uploaded as individual files. Same goes for the sleeping sprites, there is really no use for them. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:10, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Can I bother you again?

I whipped together another Conquest summary template, and I wanted to submit it to a higher-up for approval. Am I usually supposed to message one of you guys about this? - Chosen of Mana 02:11, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

You don't have to message, but it's certainly a good idea to do so. Messaging will generally get you the quickest response times since you're giving a clear note that you've completed the work put into the proposed template and want it to be reviewed. As for the template; it's looking quite good, go ahead with it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:27, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

ThunderShock

I found two images of ThunderShock from FRLG. One of them is animated with dots all over and the other one is a still image that doesn't have the dots. Pattyman (talk) 00:02, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

File quality comes before animation. The animated file appears to have been a low-quality GIF file converted to APNG format, so it has been deleted. Additionally, the static file is at the proper file name. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:10, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Bianca.

Nice "animation". Marked +-+-+ (talk) 09:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Umm, what? It would be best if you elaborated on the problem. The image hasn't been animated since August 5th, so I'm not sure what you're commenting about. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:27, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
It's not animated at all? I thought it was reverted to proper animated version, or something. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:51, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Not animated at all. The original file was a static sprite, later replaced by an incorrect animation which I reverted back to the original file. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:49, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to need your help

There are several Trainer sprites of Red and his rival in this category and some of those are unneeded. Can you find out which ones aren't needed? Pattyman (talk) 04:28, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

You've actually incorrectly moved a vast majority of those Gen I sprites. As the examples on the MoS show, the game abbreviations used on the sprites are supposed to be the ones for the debut game(s) of that sprite, not all applicable games for that sprite. Most Gen I sprites would be RG, not RBY. Same would be true for Gen II sprites dominantly using GS, not GSC. As for any needed deletions, I'll look into them in a bit. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
How did I do with the female Jr. Trainer sprite just now as I changed it from RBY to RG? Pattyman (talk) 15:58, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Everything looks to be correct with Gen I's Jr. Trainer ♀ and with Gen II's Black Belt. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:30, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
I'll refix the other messed up ones (save for Red and his rival) to match up with the corrected ones before I continue with the other generations. Pattyman (talk) 21:47, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

A little heads up

I have encountered some duplicates in this category (most have been unmoved). Not requesting something or anything, just letting you know. Pattyman (talk) 00:48, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Yep, already been told about those. I plan to look into them along with the Gen I duplicates. Thanks for the note, though :3 - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:25, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome. Everything appears to be done for Stage 1. Pattyman (talk) 01:46, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
I think there's a few small things that may need to be handled before we enter Stage 2. But Stage 2 will likely start early next week. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:49, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
How are the back sprites of the trainers supposed to be named as the MoS only tells me the front sprites? Pattyman (talk) 19:40, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
We're not going to handle Trainer back sprites for the time being. When the time comes, however, the MoS will be updated to include their new filenames & a mini-project for them will be started. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:32, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
The Trainer back sprites project must be separate then. The main series games must be the main focus for this project. Pattyman (talk) 00:30, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon sprites

With many of the Pokémon sprites being different for MD Darkness/Time/Sky and MD Red/Blue, what should the filenames be for the sprites that are only Darkness, Time, and Sky? G50 05:53, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Not to mention Shaymin (and likely Giratina Origin Forme). When uploading... well, could you re-upload sprites form Starly to Budew? I was in a dungeon that... well it seems to be dummied out (as there is nothing about Concealed Ruins having second part, but there is one, albeit neither music nor look is the same or similar), and apparently was treated as not illuminated corridor everywhere. That made sprites in wrong color. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:50, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Could you compile a list of which Pokémon have different sprites between MDRB & MDDTS? I'd like to see just how many are different before jumping into a decision. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:49, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

3TrainerPoké $ image issues

Hello, Kogoro. I was wondering if you could help explain what, (if there is anything), is wrong with the image of 3TrainerPoké $. On the Archives, the image is listed here: [1] shows the dimensions and size of the image correctly. However, the same image located over on Bulbapdia, [2], has the correct dimensions, but the size of the image is stretched incorrectly. Thank you for your time in reading this Super goku (talk) 01:52, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Bulbapedia and Bulbanews use a cached Content delivery network (CDN) to serve images, while the MediaWiki software uses the image dimensions from the most recent upload of a file. This can conflict if an image of a different dimensional ratio is uploaded over an existing image, which is the case with the sprite of that particular glitch Pokémon. The CDN should automatically update the file within 24 hours. If it doesn't, please let me know. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:02, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Ah, that does explain what happened to the file. Thank you for the explanation. Super goku (talk) 02:31, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Pokemon Conquest Pokemon Sprites

With Pokémon Conquest Pokémon not listed in Pokédex order in the game, should the filenames say for example Spr_Conquest_thePokémon or something else? G50 01:04, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

For the battlefield sprites, we're going to use "File:###CFS.png" with ### being the Pokémon's National Pokédex number. Like all files using National Pokédex numbers, they need to all be three digits long. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:56, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Generation I back sprites

Potential Uploads

Jo the Marten told me to check with you before I proceed with character uploads. I currently have images available for Cail, Duking, Es Cade, Fateen, Johnson, Marcia, Secc, Sherles, and Willie from Colosseum. While Es Cade can simply have a filename of Es Cade.png, the remaining characters of this current group are also in XD. If you would like the Colosseum images of them, how would you like their filename? --Nairbnroh (talk) 18:12, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Unless the character had a major change in their model between Colosseum and XD (like with Miror B.), we really don't need images from both games. So, a shot from either game would be sufficient at the naming style of "[Name].png". For those that did have a major change, you can use the filename of "[Name] Colo.png" for their appearance in Colosseum. If you check out the image of Bluno, just follow the same style of summary as I changed it to. It's not important to note what you're using to play the game or shift perspective with. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:20, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

None and Noimage

File:None.png and File:Noimage.png are both identical. Should one be eventually replaced with the other or is it fine the way it is now? --Abcboy (talk) 01:28, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Noimage.png has been deleted & redirected to None.png, all redirects directing to Noimage.png have also been changed to direct to None.png. None.png has also been protected. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:20, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

I don't know whether we're allowed to reupload it and use it for the archives and 'pedia, but there's a clear, transparent, high-resolution (3000x1500px) version of the Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice logo available from the Australian DVD publisher/distributor's website here that looks a lot better than the one we've got at the moment Thingamajig257 (talk) 14:09, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Habitat icons

Are the habitat icons supposed to be in png format or do they stay as is, such as this one? The file they are in now is being used in tons of pages, so I don't believe such change is necessary. Pattyman (talk) 17:01, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

It would be better if the files were in the standard PNG format for sprites, doesn't make much sense as to why they were uploaded as GIF in the first place. They're not really used on tons of articles, the whole group of habitat icons should only be used on less than 400 articles, so it's not that massive of a change (The Trainer sprite change was certainly much worse). It's certainly not a priority change, though. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:16, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
After checking, it turns out that they are used in less then 400 articles. How should they be named? Pattyman (talk) 02:30, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
"File:[Existing filename] Habitat.png" So, for the grassland file, it would be "File:Grassland Habitat.png" - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:43, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. Pattyman (talk) 02:13, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Ash's Charizard

Hey Kogoro, do you have the right to unlock Ash's Charizard? I have a satisfactory image to upload for it but I can't get past the block. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 01:06, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

The reason such high-traffic head images are protected is to require administrative review of any changes proposed. So, while I am entirely capable of unprotecting the file, I will not do so. If you want the file changed, just send me a link to the file you wish to replace it with (you can use any image hosting service like Photobucket, TinyPic or ImageShack) If I feel the proposed file is acceptable and better than the existing file, then it will be replaced. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:43, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
Here's the picture. HD, HQ, 4x3, not blurry, not awkward, and Unova style. So what do you think? Is it good enough to replace the current unsatisfactory one? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 02:24, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
While it certainly is a nice image, it's not exactly what we're looking for in a head image. We're going to wait for a better full body scene from the coming episodes, since Charizard is going to be sticking around for a while. Also, just so you know, HD images are 16:9 aspect ratio. It's SD which are 4:3 aspect ratio. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:45, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
But aren't those two the same thing? And I actually do have a better head image to upload. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 19:17, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
I think you may be confused, a "head image" does not mean "image of the subject's head," it means the image that starts the article (generally found within the article's infobox. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:45, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
Oh. Yes, I misunderstood. But it now seems like a better full body one was uploaded, so it doesn't matter now. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 13:31, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Black Kyurem C-gear skin

Could you delete this then in order to upload the new file again? Because for some reason, it shows the extremely blurry version here even after I uploaded a better version with the file name "Black Kyurem Cgear skin.png" (the one you deleted/moved). Another user told me that it has something to do with the cache and that it can be resolved by adjusting the resolution with (number)px, but it doesn't work on that page since it uses a template.

ps. How do you link to pictures without the actual picture showing up? Thanks. Raykyogrou0 (Talk) 11:01, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

No, I will not delete it. Nor should you upload over it again. If a file doesn't properly update on Bulbapedia after 24 hours, you should shoot me a message regarding which file(s) aren't updating. I will forward the information and get content delivery network cache to update the file. While modifying the pixel size of a thumbnail will cause an updated version of the file to show, it's not often a reasonable solution. Most file thumbnails are sized as they are for a reason, so they shouldn't be modified.
As for linking to files without making pictures show up:
 • You can do this on the Bulbagarden Archives::File:Black Kyurem C-Gear skin.png
 • On Bulbapedia, however, you need to do this: Black Kyurem C-Gear skin.png
I hope that helps. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:50, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, will do! Raykyogrou0 (Talk) 13:06, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Deleting some images.

Hi Kogoro, can you please delete the following images: Reporter RSE OD.png, Cameraman RSE OD.png and Reporter f RSE OD.png because Gabby and Ty were called by "Interviewer", not reporter or cameraman. I have reuploaded the images with the proper names, but can't delete the old ones. Also the last one was my own mistake. Thank. Agent5514 (talk) 08:21, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

It seems that Chosen has already gotten to deleting them. Anyway, instead of re-uploading a file to another name and then asking a staff member to delete the original file, just ask a staff member to move the existing file to the correct title (Or use the move template on the file in question). - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:14, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Categories

Would it be OK to create "Cards illustrated by [artist]" categories for the TCG card images? --sorry i'm dead -- Relicant 08:16, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Speaking of which, would creating a seperate category for TCG promotional material be acceptable? Another user raised a good point on my talk page but I feel uncomfortable lumping in the promotional material into the same category that the card illustrations are in. --sorry i'm dead -- Relicant 08:16, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
I'll need to discuss this with other members of the staff. So, for now, hold off on creating any categories. I'll let you know the results of the discussion when we've come to a decision. Additionally, the user who contacted you is a staff member. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:53, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Villainous team namings

There are some inconsistencies with the file naming of the villainous teams. Adventures has it abbreviated and not abbreviated, DPA has grunt in the name and without grunt in the name. Examples: TR Drowzee Adventures.png, Team Rocket Drowzee Psybeam Adventures.png, and so on. Pattyman (talk) 16:25, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

I don't think I was clear on that part. What I meant to say is how am I supposed to name the images relating with villianous teams in their name in all of the images such as Team Rocket? Pattyman (talk) 20:45, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
No, you were clear on the request. The lateness of this response was due to outside factors. We certainly shouldn't use abbreviations, as they can be somewhat unclear, nor are they future-proof. Little reason to note the grunt in the filename either, so it would be best to go with "[Team Name] [Pokémon] [Move (if applicable)] [Media]" (e.g. "Team Rocket Drowzee Adventures" and "Team Rocket Drowzee Psybeam Adventures") - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:22, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Image uploading problems

I tried to upload an image, but it says that I have no permission to create new pages. I don't understand because I have uploaded an image before. What did I do wrong? - unsigned comment from Hikari The Language Nerd (talkcontribs)

You haven't done anything wrong. As a spam prevention measure, we've had to restrict page creation to autoconfirmed users. Unfortunately, that restricts new uploads to autoconfirmed users as well. To become autoconfirmed, all you need to do is help out the Archives in other ways, such as making upload requests, fixing categories, and things to that extent. It will happen eventually, as long as you keep helping out, and you can check if you've become autoconfirmed via your preferences. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:53, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Image stuff

When I was uploading some images recently, I got some 503s that caused some of the images to receive duplicate copies. Can you delete those versions? Pattyman (talk) 00:34, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

For the most part, accidental upload duplication really doesn't need to be deleted. If you're getting 503s though, give the server some time to rest before trying to upload anything. That should prevent some duplicate uploads from happening. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:53, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Then why weren't the files protected in the FIRST PLACE? Also most of the logos need updating anyways, and it was rude to revert my update I spent 15 minutes on. --sorry i'm dead -- Relicant 13:09, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

I can only assume they weren't protected because nobody thought they would need to be, an oversight from years gone by. Reverting your changes were in no way rude, it was simply standard procedure. Like I noted in the protections, changes to the project logos need to be approved by the project leader and the staff. Since your changes did not have such approval, the files needed to be restored to their previous state. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:34, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

X and Y

What about the rest of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis? For example, PokéWiki has ripped out few sprites (...I guess. don't ask me how they got them since I don't know) and I am not sure what it (and the rest) is counted as. Uploader (talk) 10:34, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

This right here. PokéWiki has already posted the X and Y sprites and I wanted to see if it was OK to upload those.--LHakaLH (talk) 14:47, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
While we are partners in the Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis, it is preferred that we obtain our own images rather than take from our partners. Most of their X and Y sprites are just cleaned up from jpg format screenshots. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:05, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Photo Spot Pictures

I've noticed at the photo spots, that there are some, albeit few, places that a picture can be taken with the player not being in the picture, for instance, this picture that I took of Geosenge Town. Would these be prefered over pictures with a character in them? Or would it be better with a player in them since a lot of areas don't work without the player? IVsaur (talk) 13:41, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

A clean image without a customized character would certainly show off a little more of the scenery, which would likely provide a more informative file. So, feel free to take and upload such shots. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:16, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

I "do not have permission to create new pages"...?

I just tried to upload an image I had saved to my computer, and I got the error: "You do not have permission to create new pages." I just want to upload some new images for more or less random pages on Bulbawiki. What do I have to do?

(Also, I previously tried on two separate days (once today) to upload a couple of different images from web addresses, but I got no error message when I tried that... Today, after failing again with that, I finally thought to save the image to my computer and try to upload it and only then did I get an error message (as above). With the previous tries, I got no feedback whatsoever, and there really should have been something - but I just arrived back at the upload page with the same text in the fields. That seems like some sort of bug, to me.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:42, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

URL uploading is restricted to members of staff, as a theft prevention measure, and the option to upload from a URL shouldn't even appear for non-staff users. Creation of new files/pages is restricted to established members, as a spam prevention measure. New users to the Archives will need to volunteer some time toward maintenance-style editing, such as adding missing categories or clarifying image summaries, before they will be able to upload new files. If you feel your images need to be uploaded ASAP, however, you can send an upload request to any member of the staff. We will review the image and upload it if it's found to be needed. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:16, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Ugh, tedium. Fine. I think someone should make that clear in the FAQ, though (maybe include the error message as well, so that users might even find that page by searching). The only restrictions mentioned in the FAQ are for uploading "over" a file. It'd be awesome if new users weren't left in the dark about this, short of asking a staff member. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:48, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
P.S. The Special:UncategorizedFiles page only has 3 images in it right now. Do I have to just randomly search files and see if they need more categories?? ...A suggestion of where/how to look to add categories might also be useful in the FAQ. (If there is in fact any option better than "just look and see what needs more categories". Though that would also be useful knowledge in its own way.) Regarding you blocking me

First of all, I'd like to apolpgize if my behavior may have come across as "intimidating" or "harassing". That was not my intention but you have to admit that the other users weren't exactly welcoming when I attempted to explain why I was unable to comply with your request. Second, because I did not think I would be confronted with such an odd request since I thought the warning would only apply to full screenshots of battle scenes, etc. I didn't bother making any other screenshot except for the menu sprites. Third, isn't there such a rule as "Innocent till proven guilty."? Because I am unable to prove that I'm speaking the truth due to the circumstances I am automatically convicted? And fourth, I only made this secondary account to contact you. -Raykyogrou0

You didn't intend to harass, yet you chose to call people "uptight pricks"? I'm sorry, but I have a bit of trouble believing there was no malicious intent in those words. Even if the statement was posted in anger or frustration, the intent of the statement is incredibly clear.
The individuals messaging you were in no way being rude or unwelcoming; Force Fire was further explaining the reasons behind the request I gave you and suggested you comply, which you proceeded to fight against and continue uploading anyway. Gaspershut certainly didn't need to comment, but tried to offer you another way to prove your claim of borrowing a capture card 3DS, which you claimed to be unable to do. Nobody attacked you, nobody was being insulting. Every message directed to you was done in a civil manner, while your replies were consistently defensive and uncivil.
"Innocent until proven guilty" is part of the legal system and has nothing to do with internal rulings of a private entity. Regardless of that, I did a thorough check of your uploads and compared them against other fansites and found that every sprite checked matched up to the pixel, other than file dimensions. That wouldn't have been an issue, except that their sprites had slight quirks on them. Interestingly, every menu sprite that I reviewed also had those quirks. That considered, there's no doubt in my mind that the sprites you uploaded were not obtained through your use of a capture card and were actually taken from another fansite.
As for the secondary account, creation of additional accounts is not permitted. If you wanted to appeal your block, you can send me an email or a PM through the Bulbagarden forums. Your secondary account has been permanently blocked in accordance with policy. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:59, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
And like I said, that was not my intent. If I intended to be intimidating or harassing I have a much better choice of words in mind.
I don't call that "in a civil matter" if I have to explain myself repeatedly.
Define "quirks". (Seriously, I have no idea what you mean)
I've never used the forum and I do not prefer contacting you by e-mail. --Raykyogrou0
I will no longer respond to messages from unauthorized additional accounts. Creation of such accounts will result in an additional one month block, and a permanent block for the unauthorized account. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:32, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

Error when uploading file

When I went to upload the photo of Geosenge Town, it came up with the error message "File extension ".png" does not match the detected MIME type of the file (image/jpeg)." The file I was uploading was a .png file just like the original file was, do you have any clue what might have caused the error? IVsaur (talk) 15:04, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

It sounds like while your image has a .png extension, it's actually still a jpg file. Could you upload the file to a file host, like photobucket, then drop me a link? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 16:38, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Here's the file IVsaur (talk) 18:21, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Checking the file you uploaded, it is a jpg. If you would like, I can convert the file to png and upload it for you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:59, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
That's really weird... When I took the picture from my SD card it said it was a .png file... That would be good, what's a good way to do that though? IVsaur (talk) 13:06, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay. If you just send me a link to the image uploaded like you did with the previous one, that will suffice. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:21, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
I can't find my game right now, so the Geosenge Town one is currently the only one that I have IVsaur (talk) 13:57, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Mega Stone sprites

What sizes do the Mega Stone sprites have to be in? Pattyman (talk) 20:27, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Help with autoconfirmed?

I am new to the archives so when I try to upload a file it says "do not have permission to create new pages". I read someone who asked a similar question, but I am still confused. How exactly can you become autoconfirmed if you cannot upload anything? I went on the list of "to-dos" and it all requires images/sprites, etc. that need to be uploaded. What am I supposed to do? :/ Some answers I read would be to fix missing categories or help edit summaries, but where are you supposed to go? How am I supposed to know what needs editing and what does not? Sorry but I am so confused. Midnight Moon (talk) 23:17, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

In order to become autoconfirmed, you will need to assist the Archives with maintenance-style edits (adding missing categories, clarifying image summaries, tagging low-quality images for replacement, etc.). Unfortunately, since files needing such edits will be spread out and typically impossible to make a to-do list of, you will need to find them by manually browsing existing files. If you replacement for an existing file, or have a new file you want uploaded, your best bet at this time will be to send an upload request to an active member of the staff. Preferably someone who has made an edit in the last few days, as it will offer a much better chance of a response. Legitimate upload requests will also help to further you toward autoconfirmed status. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:37, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Just to be sure

In Bulbapedia, I'm working on a section of the sandbox, and yesterday I started the work on the Kalos template. However, it required the existence of this file in an appropriate size. Now I just have a doubt: is 188x124 the convention that we should use on that picture? By the way, could you please move it to File:Kalos.png? Thanks. オリナル TheOriginalOne 16:06, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

The file should be replaced with a proper screenshot of the map at native resolution (320×240) before an image map is created. Since the current image is a tilted photograph of a 3DS screen, it's of little use for making an image map as the map points would move considerably once it's replaced with a clean screenshot. The file will be moved when it's replaced with the aforementioned screenshot. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:13, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Pixie Plate sprite

I'd like to ask if I can upload a sprite of the Pixie Plate I edited, partially based on the other Plate sprites we already have, specifically to match the border coloring that other Plates have. --Gabo 2oo (talk) 22:30, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

That is quite the impressive file! I have to ask, however, how did you get the colors of your edit to exactly match up with the colors of the sprite used by other fansites? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:07, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
I edited the brightness, color, hugh, etc. of each color using the Mind Plate sprite we already have as a template. --Gabo 2oo (talk) 17:57, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Can you step in this topic because this isn't something I want to get involved with or I want to respond to, even if it gets responded to on your talkpage. Pattyman (talk) 18:37, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Cover pages

A lot of the cover pages of mangas are incorrectly named. I have provided some examples here but no one got back to me for 3 months. For the naming convention, how about the one I suggested on that talk page? Pattyman (talk) 17:45, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

I'll discuss this with Zesty Cactus and Ataro, and then I'll get back to you with a decision. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:51, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

About the HGSS maps we have

Hello, I want to ask something about the location maps from HeartGold and SoulSilver we have for Kanto. Sorry for taking your time, but neither Clarky13, TwinsMetsFan, TTEchidna, CoolPikachu or Jello are here anymore (heads of Project Locations/HGSS map uploaders).

You see, back in 2010, I uploaded some maps from HGSS (like Route 22, Route 2, or Route 3), while CoolPikachu uploaded others (like Pallet Town, Route 1, or Viridian City). However, we used different methods to get the maps, which causes the maps to not coincide between them. Initially, I didn't want to overwrite CoolPikachu's hard work with my own, but after talking about it a bit on this thread, I would like to request permission to replace CoolPikachu's maps with mine, to avoid inconsistencies between all said maps, if possible. --Gabo 2oo (talk) 00:53, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

You're more than welcome to replace them, but consistency between the images isn't really a priority. Like MAGNEDETH noted in the edit requests thread, it's more important to get location maps for locations that are lacking maps. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:58, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Field weather conditions images

Hello, I asked Eridanus about this, and although he was fine with it, I was asked to talk to you about it: I've been working on the Field weather animated images, and had this suggestion for the description on the file pages. Right now, each image uses an image template with the actual location. My idea was to have this format instead, using the Heavy Snow file for Gen IV as an example:

In this example, the heavy snow found in HGSS's Mt. Silver has the same animation, so I was thinking it might be better to have this more general description, which could then be applied to a location template for each Gen IV game (including DP). I was also thinking it would match with the more general "(weather) (Gen #) Field.png" name it has as well. I know that the field weather conditions are only found in the overworld in specific locations (although rain and snow are found in many places in Generations IV and V), but I think it would put the focus on the actual weather, and not the locations as it is now. This will allow for weather images from a specific game to apply to others in the same generation when appropriate, even if the location is not applicable (i.e. all current Gen IV images are from Pt, but the animations are the same in DP and HGSS, etc.). What do you think? Jdthebud (talk) 18:44, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

To be quite honest, I don't see how such a change in the summary is really necessary or an improvement. It's still saying the image is from Platinum, so it's really not generalized any more than the current format. I do agree, however, that we should only list one summary for the game that the screenshot/animation was taken from. If we want to go more general, though, we'd be better off with a summary template for weather conditions that notes generation rather than individual games. But, I don't really think that is all that necessary either. The existing summary format explains the image quite well, with significant detail.
Another note, please do not include summary templates on talk pages. Doing so causes improper categorization, and we don't need talk pages categorized in with images. I've added nowiki tags around the inclusion so it won't cause further miscategorization. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:58, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Sorry about the template inclusion, forgot about the auto-categorization code in there.
I guess the strongest point I wanted to make is that the description focus for theses images should be on the weather itself, and not the location, especially since they are not used anywhere other than the weather pages. Using the location summary template also puts the images in region map categories (i.e. "Sinnoh maps", "Hoenn maps", etc.), and they don't really belong there. To that point, the two best options may be either the new weather template that you suggested (I think there are a little less than 20 images that would use it, not including future Gen VI images), or not using a summary template at all. Both would allow the generation to be noted and prevent the weather images from being placed in region map categories. For example, an non-summary template description could simply read "Heavy snow falling, as depicted in Generation IV.", or something to that effect, with a weather category link in there.
Thanks for hearing me out, and either way, I am good with whatever you decide to do. Jdthebud (talk) 00:39, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
I'll look into the weather condition summary template, see how the idea works out. I'll get back to you once I have a solid plan & decision on the matter. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:11, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Colosseum menu sprites

I have all of the Colosseum menu sprites and Colosseum Shiny menu sprites here. (part 1, 2)

Our current normal menu sprites have the corners cut off, while we lack most of the shiny ones entirely. I noticed that some of the Pokémon had two sprites: one facing left and one facing right. (I suspect the other Pokémon were symmetrical enough for them just to be mirrored.) Do the sprites facing right need to be uploaded?

I counted 918 sprites, and I know that would take forever to isolate and upload to the Archives by myself; do you know of any ways to speed up the process? --Abcboy (talk) 03:47, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

You'd have to ask someone such as Soulweaver regarding the cut off corners, as he uploaded many of the Colosseum menu sprites. He'd be more likely to know the specific reason why they have the corners in that format.
I'd assume the shiny sprites are dominantly lacking since they weren't likely to be used for the initial reasons the others were uploaded for, but we should have them for use on the species articles. Similarly, for completion's sake on the species articles, we should have the right facing versions for Pokémon who happen to have unique ones. (I would suggest using a filename such as "File: Menu Colo 004-R.png" for them.)
The only way to speed up the upload process would be to seek out some helpers to assist you in uploading them. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:23, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Official TCG Type Images

Since Bulbapedia uses scans of cards to create the image for TCG types, their quality and origin are naturally subject to whoever scans a card and whoever edits the image to get the icon. Would official images on the Pokemon website of each type ( [3] ) be of any use in any way? I'm fully aware that the images already work well enough as they are, but I just haven't really purely digital artwork of the Fairy TCG type prior to this, especially official images. I'm not proposing a change to the images used already or anything, just really throwing something out that could potentially be useful in some way. Nairbnroh (talk) 07:34, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

I think the way we do things now will work well enough. The icons in that image are quite small & significantly lower quality than what we have. Additionally, the icons for the original TCG types aren't taken from scans, they're from the official site. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:51, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Time transition

Since we have on for Generation IV, not sure if to make one for Generation V. (The problem is, time transition depends on the season [as the article says], and I don't know how to handle that; whether to make one and say which season it is or something...). Eridanus (talk) 08:21, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

I'll have to think on this for a bit, the different seasons make it a bit more tricky than time in previous generations. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:48, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Where are the XY models?

It's been more than three weeks since you told me that you're planning to upload XY models "within a week". So where are your models? Are you working on them right now? Are you doing all the work of animating them? I want to know some progress about these sprites. Do you think you can upload them before OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire comes out? SeanWheeler (talk) 02:50, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Work is currently going on to prepare for the upload of the XY models, it's been taking longer than initial estimates due to the volume of tasks that need to be completed. Yes, they should be up well before OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire's release. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:48, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Something about XY Sprite

Good day, I'm an administrator from 52Poké Wiki. My friend and I managed to obtain some sprite images of various items from XY, such as the Poké-Ball Pattern Vivillon, TM sprites, Poké Flute, fishing rods, and official art of Pokémon taken from the digital version of official guides. I'm unable to upload them, due to being a new user. English is also not my native langueage. In addition, one of the recent message from the council suggest that I contact a council member first, so can you please assist me in uploading them?My English is so bad, tanks for 神奇超龍.詹玮键 (talk) 13:33, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Mega Menu Sprites

Just letting you know, as you're the one that uploaded the Mega Menu Sprites, that both Mega Lucario and Mega Aggron's sprites are missing. --S2daam (talk) 11:44, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Oh, and the Gardevoirite. --S2daam (talk) 08:24, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

XY Vs. Portraits?

Now that we know that ORAS will be using different art for certain trainer classes, should the Vs. portraits for XY Trainer classes be moved to "VS[Trainer class] [variation] XY.png" some time in the future? - Chosen of Mana 18:23, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

We should move them when we get to adding the ORAS VS artwork, so the new art & re-links can be done in a single edit to each Trainer class article. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:47, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Sprite question

Would I get blocked for uploading XY sprites from a fansite? The message only says not to upload screenshots from a fansite. TheShinyRoggenrola (talk) 18:59, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

X/Y Images (Boxes, Moves, etc.)

Hi! I have a 3DS Capture Card and would like to help with pictures from X and Y. I already took pictures for the box-backgrounds (I did cut out the team view though) for example, and would probably start to work on capturing Moves in the near future. As I am supposed to message someone from the Advisory Council before doing so, I hereby messaged you. Mr. Flix (talk) 05:27, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Great to see you're interested in helping out with Pokémon X and Y images! However, due to a significant number of people falsely claiming to own a capture card and then merely uploading images from other fansites, we do have to request a confirmation image to be sure that you do have a capture card. If you would be so kind, please provide a screenshot of the status screen for a Scatterbug nicknamed with your username. Once we have confirmed your capture card, you'll be welcome to assist. Thank you for your understanding, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:49, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
Absolutely understandable^^ Here you go! - Mr. Flix (talk) 23:50, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, looks great! You're approved to provide Pokémon X and Y images. I regret to tell you, since your account isn't autoconfirmed yet, you won't be able to upload files at this time. However, you are welcome to contact any active Archives staff member and we'll upload the files for you until you've become autoconfirmed. Apologies for the inconvenience, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:50, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, should've realized that an autoconfirmed on one garden-page doesn't equal garden-wide ac. Well, onto Category-fixing then! Also, maybe you can help me with this problem: After recording a move in mp4 & outputting it into a PNG sequence (because I cannot find a converter directly from mp4 to aPNG), I use the APNG Assembler to make an animated png file out of them, however, said png file is about 8MB big. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong/should be doing entirely different? - Mr. Flix (talk) 12:50, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with creation of APNGs from video files. I would suggest asking Masatoshi about that one, as he's been one of our main APNG creators/uploaders and I believe he has used such programs. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:19, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I will ask him. Thanks for all your help! - Mr. Flix | My talkpage 00:26, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Re: File summaries

I understand (about the periods). Simply put, in wikis I've worked on in the past, it was standard to only ever end phrases (incomplete sentences) in periods if they were then followed by a complete sentence. But thanks for informing me about my mistake. Auride (talk) 12:01, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
